Similarities with Yeovil?

Leighite

Youth Team
Has anyone else noticed how we have fared similarly to Yeovil when they deservedly when up as Champions of League 2 when we went up in the play-offs? Last season they struggled in League 1 and just escaped relegation at the end of the season. This season they are much stronger and fighting for promotion.

Anyone think that if we manage to pull it off this season we will be in the top half this time next year?

Think you are maybe getting a bit carried away there.
Until FF is here we can only hope to get lucky and do a (it pains me to say it) Col Ewe. Afterwards, who knows if the club grow like Uncle Ron wants then there's no reason as to why we can't challenge in the Championship.

You mean there's a doubt?

Well, yes, of course there is.

But IF we do manage to stay up then i can see us struggling again if we continue to work with a very small squad. We need to learn something from this season, whether we go down or stay up, and we can't attempt to get by on a shoestring again.

No, if we stay up I dont see us challenging for the top 10, but if we can finish 10-16th that will be good enough for when we get into Fossetts.

I agree with the sentiment though, lets try and stay up first, its far from certain at the moment!

Thanks Jam Man, you can see it was tongue in cheek! But ever hopeful!

If we had shown the form we have in 2007 for the whole of the season we would be sitting nicely in 9th place with 57 points. (Worked out on points per game)

Even if you include December as well which had the tail end of our 17 game winless run, we would be 12th with 50 points.

Just shows how much the poor form in Sept-Nov has cost us. Also goes to show that if we do stay up, providing we don't lose a couple of key players that a top half finish next season is not beyond us.

I think that at the moment we are in a way benefitting from our early form. We were so dire that teams are playing us expecting an easy game, but now we are a different team completely.

Compare this to Col U who had a great first half, but are now struggling as people know what to expect from them.
