Silly money or fair Price ?

IANichols

Youth Team
A name mentioned here before, I didn't think an 18yr old who has never played for his club's first team be worth that amount. Yes someone might throw at me Theo Walcott but he had made a few Championship appearence's. Just shows the market we are operating in. Natter is Kigallon has gone from Leeds to Sheffield United for 2.5m as well, unfortunately I dont think our 300k bids which is a lot of money for us is going to get us much

Madness....

Cannot believe the price for Stokes. Surely if Sunderland have £2m to spend on a striker - and given their supposed earlier interest, that money would have better spent on someone at least proven in England!

Top scorer in the SPL this season, and attracting bids from prem. teams both sides of the border. Also highly rated at Arsenal but they couldn't give him first team football.

£2million some big cash, but hardly a major gamble, hes already netted 3 hattricks this season. Would be nice if we could match such figures.

Figure also supposedly closer to £1million + clauses, so not an immediate £2million.

£2m for Stokes or quarter of a million (or whatever it was) for Paynter ? Which is the maddest?

He is clearly a quality prospect and Sunderland will view it as both a bid for success in a division that's wide open and an investment.

I think stokes has a big future, could have chose a better team than sunderland....

2 million at that age though is crazy talk.

The guy is quality and would think 2m is a good price for him. If he plays week in next season I'd back him e/w for top goal scorer.

It's worth noting that three clubs bid £2m. I'd be surprised if they were all wrong, but you never know.

I've seen him play a couple of times and his understanding of the game belies his age.
