Signed Kevin McLeod from Swansea?

Guest
606 forums and Skysports.com suggest we made a bid to sign McLeod on loan but the fax was a few seconds lates reaching the FL.
Should know this morning if we get him.
Hope this isn't a wind up!

He doesn't show on the list of deadline day transfers here

Signings that beat the deadline

I somehow don't think the Football league will allow this one to sneak under the wire. My call is that we've missed out.

Would be an interesting signing. Hes very highly rated by Swansea fans and was in great form earlier in the season!

However isnt he meant to be a bit of a lad and also an alcholic?

Would be ridiculous if the FL dont allow a transfer through thats "seconds" after the 5pm dealine...

Mind you, with our track record with the FL, they wont exactly be willing to do us any favours will they.

I wouldnt trust the BBC list for accuracy - deadline beating or not...

Many times in the past they have not included transfers that we have completed. As we know, very few pages on the BBC sports online (non-Premier$hite) are accurate!

Don't think it matters if he is a larrikin or not we've had a few - Stan Collymore anyone??

I would say as a right sided midfielder who scores a few (hat trick v Bristol City) he would be a much better bet than JCR. And with the possible exception of the said JCR, Tilly has not made a bad signing for us yet, and would have done his homework on Mr McCleod for sure.

Quote[/b] ]Southend will have to wait until Friday morning before discovering whether or not they have been successful in their bid to land Swansea winger Kevin McLeod.

It was initially thought that The Shrimpers had beaten the 5pm Football League transfer deadline on Thursday to land the player.

However, the authorities did not receive faxed confirmation of the agreement until seconds after the deadline expired leading Football Association officials to mediate on the transfer.

The Shrimpers appeared to have beaten off a host of clubs to land The Swans winger on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

I hope SUFC & McLeod is sorting out the deal with the FA this morning as we type this topic .....

McLeod is a left-sided midfielder though. Although with Gower able to operate on either flank I suppose it doesn't matter much.

But if they read the fax surely even if it arrived late should show the time that it was sent from southend!

Well, presumably the deadline is "deadline for receipt at the FL"...? However, what would be the point of enforcing the rule for the sake of a few seconds?

*Swansea want rid
*We want him in
*He wants to play football

What would the FL achieve by blocking the transfer, except to make themselves look petty jobsworths?

but what do you do if you have 5 other clubs for instance faxing all at the same time?

That doesn't usually stop them....

I seem to remember there was a problem in one of the earlier transfer windows where one club couldn't get their fax through til after the 5pm deadline because the Football League's fax machine had run out of paper.

faxing - bloody stone age technology - move forward the FL for Christs sake

I reckon they will stick to the 5pm deadline and we miss out I'm afraid - Our own fault really

Exactly Matt, nothing would be achieved except maybe a little swipe at us for our "frivolous" doings this season...
