Tuesday 8th October for those wondering when!Southend United are pleased to be launching a SECE MIND Fundraiser titled ‘National League Darts’ in association with The Echo’s Chris Phillips!
Sponsored by JSL Window Cleaning Services and Darts Corner, the event at Chalkwell Park Rooms will pit eight of Blues’ first-team squad against each other in a head-to-head singles tournament.
The event, which will start at 7.30pm, is priced at just £15 with season ticket holders able to attend for £10. 100% of profits are donated straight to South East & Central Essex MIND, with the event taking place in the same week as World Mental Health Day.
Adam Crowther, George Moncur, Gus Scott-Morriss, Harry Taylor, Jack Bridge, Joe Gubbins, Nathan Ralph and Oli Coker will all compete in a best-of-3 legs 301 competition, with the final best-of-5.
There will be a pay bar facility in operation and there will also be food available for purchase from Chalkwell Rooms' kiosks.
Speaking on the event, club captain Nathan Ralph said: “There only used to be a couple of us who played but now there’s about eight or nine of us so it’s getting more popular!
“We play at the training ground and there’s three dart boards up now. Sometimes they’re all going on at the same time so it can be carnage up there but it’s good.
“It’s for a good cause and a few of the boys really like their darts so it makes sense. It’s going to be fun and we’re really looking forward to it.
“Bridgey is probably the best but Gussy has been very good recently as well! George Moncur is good too. He’s come in and has obviously been playing before.”
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased directly from our ticketing site here.
To get the season ticket holder discount, just log in to your ticketing account and this will be applied automatically.
All enquires can be sent direct to commercial@southend-united.co.uk.
I’ll be more than happy to take on Bridgey! This is great, I love to see the players involved in stuff outside of football and doing something for charity is really good. Knew there were a few there who liked darts - in fact, we were talking to Cav and Jack Bridge at the Sponsors evening about darts as we had a tournament for the Trust and Jack showed a lot of interest and we were actually talking about a friendly match between him and Kev (who was our best player at that time - though @hlane17 has taken that crown now!).
