THERE will be no disguising Adam Crowther's determination to win at Brentwood Town tomorrow.

The Southend United defender scored his first goal of the season in the Shrimpers’ 2-0 win at Halifax Town on Saturday.

And the centre-back celebrated the victory by attending Blues' Christmas party in an intriguing outfit!

“We've had our fancy dress party and it was a good one at the weekend,” said Crowther.

"Danny (Waldron) was in charge of my costume and it was a mixed bag really.

"He went to the charity shop and just bought whatever he could get.

"I ended up in flip-flops and three quarter lengths with a Batman top!”

But there were some interest costumes elsewhere too.

"There were some good outfits,” said Crowther.

"We had to dress each other and no-one really knew what they had.

"I got Noor (Husin) and got him a Teletubby costume!

"Harry Taylor dressed Gussy as Cal the Dragon and it was spot on.

"It was scarily spot on actually, so that was really good."

The Shrimpers headed into their festive celebrations in good spirits after winning at Halifax.

And Crowther was delighted with the display.

"It was a really good performance all round, it wasn't just the result," said the defender.

"From the start until the end we controlled the game with the ball and even without the ball I thought we were comfortable too.

"We were really pleased with it."

Bim Pepple put Blues ahead before Crowther headed home a left wing corner from James Morton.

And the defender was pleased to finally open his account for the season.

"It was about time I got on the end of one and stuck it in the net," said Crowther.

"I was really pleased with it and it was probably one of the harder chances I've had.

"It was an important goal and obviously a good feeling too."

The header made sure of victory for the Shrimpers and came after plenty of hard work on the training ground

"I was actually practising with Cokes (Oli Coker) in the week for ages and was getting a bit of stick so it was nice it came off," said Crowther.

"It's something I've been trying to improve on because I know I can add goals to the team."

Crowther immediately showed his joy after hitting the back of the net and revealed his celebration was inspired by one of his favourite players.

"It's inspired by Kai Havertz because I'm an Arsenal fan," said Crowther.

"He's the man but I thought the goal would come a bit sooner.

"He's probably changed celebration by now!"

Crowther now hopes to have more to celebrate at Brentwood Town this weekend.

But he is taking nothing for granted in the FA Trophy third round tie.

"Just like every other game it's going to be a tough one," said Crowther,

"It's a different surface but there will be no excuses.

"We'll have the same mindset we always do and we'll look to win the game to get through to the next round."

Brentwood are currently seventh in Isthmian North and Crowther is fully aware of the dangers they possess.

"We've seen their team and how they play," said Crowther.

"They won at Hereford in the last round, I've played there and that's not an easy place to go.

"They're a good team so it will be a really tough task.

"It's a game of football at the end of the day, it's 90 minutes and anything can happen so we need to be at our best."
