Should we have a membership scheme?

I know that back in the days of the old first division we had a membership scheme. I know because like others i was a junior blue. It would appear that now me the time to get another such scheme going (ie) Season ticket holders first and then scheme members and the general sale. I think its great that we are now getting good size crowds in , but surely the more regular fans should get a fair crack at away/cup tickets etc.

chelsea and most Premier$hite clubs implement this well.. it would be great

Surely we already have a membership scheme in effect. Being a S/T and organised I have got tickets for every game that I have wanted to this season no problems.

Exactly... If there is to be a membership scheme set up i'd expect them to charge for the privelege, after all, Seaso's pay upfront and expect this privelege.

It worked well before. IIRC the West Stand was a members only stand. Somthing like £6 for Membership and then you bought your tickets as normal. Good for people who can't get to all the games etc. Added a second layer to ticket priority as well.

No thanks. Maggie Thatcher tried to implement one in the 80's & it did not work then. Just get organised, sort yourself out & should not have no problems getting tickets

All well and good if:

You have the money upfront for a season ticket (which not everybody does)
Or you dont live in the southend area and do not fancy ordering the next five games online.

Surely by paying say £20 a year to be a member and get Second priority behind season ticket holders couldnt be a bad thing. It would save alot of bitching and help the club.

Here, here. I have missed 7 games home and away this season but cannot get a season ticket for reasons I won't bore you with.
A second level of ticket priority is not a bad idea at all, for people like me if nothing else.

Sounds like good points for both sides here guys. I think it's a good idea in principal but also think that the cost should be around the £5.00 mark for anyone not being a season ticket holder with season ticket holders automatically gaining free membership.

leicester do this, and i think its 20quid if you're a member, i think the only benefit is to get tickets before they go on general sale (the tickets might be cheaper but i cant remember)

Good idea, its 1 all Premier$hite clubs have and it helps more dedictaed fans have first crack at the tickets they might want?

at the risk of reposting something I said a few weeks ago:

Get a Season Ticket. If you dont have the money get a 9 month interest free credit card, they more or less throw them at you.
Be strict with yourself here, dont use the card for anything else. Every home game, put the ticket money you would have spent, in some sort of savings account. After 9 months pay the card off.
Benefits: 1)You would have acrued a small amount of interest.
2)You would have saved money on your ticket - the season tickets work out cheaper per game than buying them individually.
3) More season ticket sales help the Club as they have the money up front and they can budget more accurately as they already know how many seats are definitely sold for each game.

It takes a little bit of effort but you can do it online in a few minutes. Also when you first buy it, if you visit the grund when its quiet you can stroll around and they will let you choose your seat.

O.K. idea but season tickets ain't the answer for everyone. I go as often as I can but can only make about 13 home games, (I work 4on 4off), and you don't make a saving on seaso's unless you can get to about 15.
Also my kid and missus like to go sometimes and if I got a seaso they wouldn't be able to sit with me, (hmm, not a bad idea really).
However I'm not grumbling cos I can tickets whenever as I only live half a mile from the ground.
Membership scheme with second priority would be a great idea for those who live further away or have to work a regular 9 -5 and can't necessarily get to the ground to book tickets at the drop of the hat.
