Should I take Ben's bet?

DTS

The Business
Ben from work and I are about to go for our usual Curry buffet lunch just off the delighful Borough High Street.

Somehow as a sideline Ben has just claimed he could eat ten McDonalds hamburgers within a one hour period. His hour starts from the time that he bites the first burger. He is not allowed a pony but can drink water.

The bet is for £10 and the loser also has to pay for the Burgers.....

Now I dont think he can do this altough he is a big bloke as surely ten hamburgers all be it they arent massive is too much for anyone?

Thoughts please.

I can't see him doing myself DTS ..take the bet just make sure they are Quarter Pounders.

having participated in a number of eating and drinking challenges... i reckon he would struggle and your money is fairly safe. i would also say that it's probably worth the £7.90(??) just to witness it!

Good call. Its a win-win situation.

Or is it £17.90? £10 for the bet and £7.90 for the burgers tho.

Making it not quite so attractive.

I reckon he could eat 10 burgers..cos I reckon I probably could.

Normal hamburgers? Easy money for him, so keep your money in your pocket.
I used to be able to eat 7 big macs when I was fat, so 10 isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

I'd say steer clear of that one dave - those hamburgers aren't all that big - and if he himself is a big enough lad should have no problem getting through them...especially if he can drink water as he goes along...

Although as has been said - if you have a bit of money to squander it may be worth it just to watch and laugh :D

Dave, we had a similar kind of situation where we were thinking of challenging a mate to do it but like all good scientists, we did our research first. I managed to tuck away five in half an hour without feeling too bad and my mate had 7 in the same time. We both decided ten was attainable. To help you size up his chances, I'm not the biggest but eat reasonably well for my size.

Speed eating / drinking challenges are the norm where I work and I have seen and partaken in quite a few myself.

10 regular hamburgers is a piece of ****s. Stay clear.

However, 10 big macs is another story. Only ever seen it done once, and the interesting action is usually at what number the eater will start to chuck up. Seen it go to 9 before that happens, but also seen it at 4!

Hamburgers, are easy; Big Macs, it gets interesting!

10 hamburgers in 1 hour is a piece of p!ss!

Keep your money in your pocket and let him buy them and prove he can do it!

A Family sized bargain bucket from KFC would be more of a challenge.

Big Macs are small these days . Now challenge him to eat 10 whoppers :D

Many years ago myself, my brother and two mates bought 16 Whoppers when they were 99p and ate them before heading up to London. I think I managed three and a half.

Dave, take the bet!

You'll be sure to lose but for £10 plus the cost of the burgers, it'll be worth it to watch him force the last few in and spend the afternoon trying to keep them all in.

As the Cricko-acclaimed burger afficionado that I seem to be, I'd say 5 was fairly straightforward, but numbers 8, 9 and 10 are not going to be too much fun for Ben.

I say do it and post the picture of burger number 10 going in on here.

If it's good enough for the Hoff...
