Would hope we would be in talks over a long term contract already, but knowing us and our record for the last few years we'll probably wait until next May and he'll leave for free.

No player will resign until they know what division they are playing next season and they have more confidence than some of the Zoners who are already waving the white flag.

Can understand other people looking at Lenny , the heartbeat of our side. I do feel in today's world of less long term careers with one club in Thai day and age, especially in the lower league, I do believe yah That lenny has a close affinity to us.

The contract thing / issue is a tough one, clubs like Southend can't throw money around until they can budget and until we know what league we are in, this will prove difficult for PB and RM. I would like to think that with promotion a bumper deal for Lenny will be offered. Well I hope anyway. I've said elsewhere , Lenny for me is already at legend status, at just 24 !

Slightly different though as Lenny is above 23 so if they signed him for free there would be no tribunal, meaning that if we extend his deal by the year option and then reject bids this summer, he could walk away for free next year. That will affect his value massively.

They're the least of our worries. There is a much bigger club in for him I'm told. It isn't the most reputable source, so I'm not going to spout it on here, but if we don't go up I think we can expect Lenny to be gone :(

Why would any of our star players sign a new contract at the moment? What's in it for them? Surely their best bet is to wait until the know what division we will be in and what offers will be on the table from other clubs.

I'm sure it's not the club's fault players like Leonard and Coker have not signed.
