Serious Question

Should I give up football? (or at least calm down)

reason I say this is that its costing me a fortune, getting me close to being in trouble with the law and to be honest I am sick of bloody football!

but yet why can I not stop?

thoughts people?

Not wishing to change your matchday character at all, but is what happens purely down to the odd bevy or two beforehand? If so, then the answer is simple - abstain! Then you'd be free to enjoy the games and save a few quid in the process. Might seem hard, it depends on whether you want to keep going or not.

The best advice is that you must make the decision and whatever that decision is will be the right one for you and your circumstances.

You could try going to watch & support Shrimperzone FC for free ?

Tone down your expeniture as suggested by OldBlueLady might work.

Tightening ones belt can be a little painful, but no pain = no gain.

We all have to exercise discipline in managing our personal finances and if you must give up or reduce down for a while, you can always come bouncing back at some future or later date.

It is all a question of prioritising. Whilst having four young children, had to be a provider for them first and foremost, and accepted that would get back to a more comfortable position in later years.

Whatever, you can listen to the blues on BBC Essex or via the internet and you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy yourself.

Football is a drug, the whole package of being with friends, having a laugh being in a strange town when away, the trip and for you the drink, its addictive and alas scot you like myself have a addictive personality.
so what do you do,try to cut back and know your limits, know those around you, only you can change you.
My one addiction after football was sex,fun but still out of control, but i had to come to terms with the fact that i did have a problem so i could deal with it,you need to do the same

Well said

Although a different generation, my take is similar. You have to want to change where a change is necessary to liefstyle, for whatever reason.

What actually happened at Cheltenham Scott?? I saw some bloke point at you who was talking to the police then they can over and took you away.

The trouble is, if you stand out then you're always going to be the one that people pick out if there is any problem. My son had the same problem at junior school, he was taller than the other kids so if there was ever anything happened involving him and his mates, he would always be the one pointed out. He's learnt now to be more inconspicuous and not draw attention to himself, however much he liked to be the life and soul of things and the class clown, it always ended up with him in trouble.

Good luck whatever the outcome Scott. Much good advice been given here already, I can't really add anything but to say that listen to the above posts.

My thoughts exactly on this one - perhaps you should lay off on the alcohol a bit, Scott - you don't have to go teetotal or anything like that, just tone it down a bit.

Mine too. Did you just wait outside on Whaddon Road during the game? I can't see the point of getting totally sozzled on the way and before an away game and:

A) Run the risk of not being allowed in due to getting ****ed, or
B) Being allowed in but then not remembering much of the game?

Not much point. You can have one or two before the game, like me and some others did and then watch the game and still have an alright time, like last night!

Scot you big woofta.. just shut up and make sure you are in the spread next saturday at 5 to 11

Don't give up mate, not until you're ready. It's a drug, and the best one there is. I've had my troubles with this one and others, and the others were a lot more expensive, a lot less fun, and if you do turn your back on the lifestyle you may well find yourself embracing something worse.
