Season Tickets?

Winkle

Manager
Am I right in saying that for those of us who have seaso's in the family enclosure with the ankle biters ,we have up to the end of this month to reniew or we lose the discount? Whats everyone doing? Talking to quite a few around me, there does not seem alot of money about at the moment and alot that I have talked to are either not going to bother or move to a different stand. I now that the club are doing some kind of installment thing but they have up the price in that stand by about 20% which is quite a increase if you have kids as well. I do fear that there will be a few large gaps in that stand if we dont go up (heaven forbid) because there is not much difference in price between the R.B.S. and the west stand. Personally I might try and move, as I fancy a change and was thinking about the south upper? Do many places become available in the south upper as I now its very popular?

We've bitten the bullet and gone over to the West. Felt it was worth the slightly higher cost of tickets overall (gaining an OAP concession but increases on the others) to be away from the brattiness and also due to the increase. Although, as was pointed out I believe, wasn't there some deal about gaining you enough points on your Teamcard to get a new shirt at the end of the season?

Not sure if I can help you Winkle but this saturdays programme had a four page spread on the season ticket arrangements.

Do mean that by buying your season card you gain points which go on to your team card thing? As I have already renewed mine - I assume I will get the points as a free shirt at the beginning of next season sounds good to me!

No, it wasn't general, just something I seem to recall reading about in their rethink on the price hike in the Family Enclosure for those genuine people in there and not the ones just purchasing a kids ticket because they then get extras at hugely reduced rates. Haven't got the details anymore but I think it came from the OS somewhere.

As DtS said you'll need to have registered your team card, but you seem to have done so so will get a shirt next season at some point!

Is it just me or does anyone else think its bad that if you don't renew your season ticket by the end of the month you lose your seat regardless of whether you planned to renew at the end of the season as per usual?

As somebody mentioned on here a little while ago, Barclaycard do a Football credit card. This entitles you to 12 months interest fee credit, providing you spend over £250.

Whoever suggested that, I thank you & will give you much deserved green, if I find out who you are, as that is the option I took. I've even set up a standing order to pay off £30-ish a month, so I don't forget!!

It's not a free shirt for everyone, it's a total of £40 of teamcard points of the course of the season.

Full details are here: http://www.southendunited.premiumtv.co.uk/page/TicketNewsDetail/0,,10444~1265591,00.html

I think there is some confusion.

Yes I understand that by buying a Family Season Ticket I will get £40 in two £20 payments (If we use the card 75% of the time).

But I'm not sure Southend Lady or any others will get points added for buying Season Tickets in other parts of the ground. If that is the case then to get your 'free' shirt you would have to spend £400 over the course of the season in the club shop on other things.

We have renewed in the family stand. To be honest i had forgotten about the points thing. Glad it's 70% of matches as the kids are not allowed to come to the mid-week matches. Ex's rules not mine.:censored: :darkcloud: :headbang:

We have renewed in the Family Stand too.

If as I you have a teenager in tow then the deal is £380 with £40 of points to buy something from the Club Shop at the end of the season (assuming qualified for it by attending 70% of matches....or something like that). Still a steep rise v this season but it compares well if we went elsewhere as that would cost me £570, ie. another £190 more (or £230 more allowing for the Club Shop points thingy).

I agree it might be a little naff in the Family Stand next year if we don't go up...........too many empty seats and of those that are occupied too many ankle biters chasing balloons.

But above all, if I moved our seats, I'd miss the stanchion that blocks my view to the spot where Freddy scored 'that free kick from'. Oh I'd miss it so much, I know there are stanchions in other parts of the ground that I could stare at, and in some places even sit directly behind, but this one is special. It is why, when we move to FF, I want to buy the West Stand, or failing that at least the bloody stanchion (to be placed at home right in front of the telly). I find in life that after all these years I need to peer round things rather than look directly at them. And it has a little box on it, and I want to find out what is inside, I think it might house an original script from Colin Murphy's programme notes. I need help, or sleep, or a drink. Will opt for the latter.

Certain stipulations with the Barclaycard one if i remember.

The Halifax do a 0% for 9 mths,simple.Got mine,season card paid for,no hassle.

Couldn't be easier:)

No it's not just you. By all means offer "early bird" discounts to get the cash in, but I think it is exceptionally bad that you could lose your seat for next season before the end of this one.

I would just like to add that the more credit cards you have the more it affects your credit rating ( even if you pay off/reduce the balance ) and this could affect some other important aspect of your life at a later stage - eg getting a mortgage . It is still relatively easy to get credit cards at the moment , despite the 'credit crunch ' but this may not be the solution that suits everyone.

Well said.

I've cut the b'stard up already.
Get a mortgage,now that's something you don't wanna do.

I've got the money to pay for a SC but why should i pay up now?

Ive done the direct debit option which I think is actually a very handy way of doing it. Plus the good thing is that you can only spread the payments until August so you are guaranteed to have paid it off by the beginning of the new season so you dont have to worry about having a credit card debt hanging round your neck. Sorted it last month and only took 5 mins and first direct debit went out a couple weeks ago.
If you cant stump up the whole amount in one go then this is the perfect solution - 6 affordable payments.

Not quite right there now, the number of payments reflects the fact that it has to be paid by August, so for instance, I did ours last week and the payments are in 4 installments.
