Season Tickets / Credit Cards

Ron Martin

Guest
For anyone who wants to use a credit card to pay for a SUFC season ticket it is really quite simple to sort out.

Most credit cards offer balance transfers either at promotional rates (i.e. 0% for 6mths) or normal transfer rates, normally no higher than say 5.9% apr.
Nearly all credit card companies allow you to transfer amounts to current accounts (normally to cover overdrafts).
For example I could request a transfer for £300 from my credit card to my normal bank account in just three days.

By doing this simple balance transfer which takes only a few days, you can in effect pay for you season ticket using a switch card but knowing that in reality you have used a credit card (as per the balance transfer).

An added benefit is that you will also get a significantly better rate for the transfer on your credit card than purchasing the ticket as you normally would.

Egg, Morgan Stanley, Cahoot, Halifax are just a few who offer this service online (which is the easier option). Alternatively you can call you customer service number and they can arrange the transfer.

Hope this helps !

Indeed, I suggested this yesterday. Also, if you haven't the money in your current account to pay for it, you can just transfer the balance from the credit card first, wait for it to clear, then pay by debit card.

With my card if i get a cash withdrawal they charge me 29% wouldn't they charge me the same for transfering money to my account ie does that constitute cash?

No.

Nearly all credit cards have a balance transfer facility, this is very different from withdrawing cash.

You need to contact you credit card company (or use the internet) and ask for a balance transfer. You will need to state either a debit card number of a bank account number (and sort code) that you want the funds transferred to.

For example if I want to transfer £350 to my current account then I would have to state the account number and sort code to the credit card company. The transfer will then take between 3 and 7 days to complete (usually 3).

A cash withdrawl is say from a cash point actually using your credit card - something which is NOT recommended.

Once the transfer has been completed it just acts as a normal deposit in you bank account, therefore you are free to withdraw it from any cash point or pay for items with it via switch/delta.

Maybe i will do just that. Thanks.
(ps) Are you the real Ron Martin or just an imitation? If you are well done on coming on to the pitch agst torquay, makes a change and impressed me greatly.
