Southend for once got their marketing right this May and issued Season Ticket application forms on the day of the glorious Bristol City match. The result was an unprecedented 6500 season ticket sales, way above the average home attendance of only a couple of seasons ago.

The interesting question posed by this poll is: how many will renew if we are relegated? Fewer people will want to buy a season ticket for League 1 football, but will we drop to the Pre-Tilson figures of 2500-3000, or has the success of the last 2 years earnt Southend new supporters for good?

Far too early to know, surely. If we contiue to struggle, then not many. If we put a good run together, like Crewe at the death last year, then quite a few. Can't possibly judge it now.

I believe the official line is that we have 5500 Seaso's this year

Still a bloody good number as you state from previous campaigns.

Do you know what I could'nt give a fat rats arse. I know they will be getting one. I will renew again as I have every year since leaving HM forces in 98. I support Southend. Want them to do well. Hate it when they lose. Love the up's and hate the downs. Go every match I can and want people to understand my passion. Smile at people when they ask what big team I support. Never tire of explaining why supporting a local team is better than glory hunting. Get a buzz when I take someone along for there first game. Don't care if they dont get the buzz themselves.
Southend United......good, bad or indifferent.....my team.
p.s. I'm pi$$ed.

I think it could depend on how we finish the season.

This is my first year of having a season ticket. I've never wanted one before because I preferred to move around the ground. It was only because of what a pain in the backside it became to get tickets last year that I went for one this season. If the rest of the season is as depressing as it has been recently then I'll probably gamble on attendences falling and therefore I won't need to bother keeping my season card.

If we go down with a fight then I reckon quite a few people will keep their cards, depending on the prices.

And yet youre making sense

Thats exactly how I feel about Southend

The question is how much the ticket prices will be if we go down. IF we go down, there is no way they can justify keeping the prices at nearly £400 (B4 June 1st) for 3rd tier football. I intend getting a ST next season, providing I can scrape or borrow the money from somewhere.

They'd have to drop the prices. Wasn't it just over £300 last season? £320 tops, I'd suggest.

Already planning next years seaso (four of us) agree with some of the comments about pricing, should be thought of by the club very carefully.

I dont think it will change much.

I think most people that buy them buy them as the want to see Southend and not the opposition. I also think once you have a S/T and dont have the hassle of thinking about calling the ticket office you will stick with it.

Going down should in theory see us as one of the Favs to come back up and that in itself should generate some interest.

Its going to fall no doubt, and thats not surprising.

First season in the championship after two successfull seasons will of course mean higher attendances and its to be expected after a season of frustrations there will be less people buying season tickets.

One huge factor will be the new stadium, if that gets agreed it will generate a buzz around the place again, if it doesnt then theres going to be one big depression on top of another...

will be the good thing to come out of this, all the annoying, whinning, new fans will sod off again, and those of us who have been going for years will not have to worry about getting tickets

If we go down I think it will drop but not by that many. As for cost Swindon kept Championship prices last season so not sure if the club will reduce the price from this season.
