Season ticket prices

ldnfatso

Red Rep King!
Wigan Athletic recently announced their adult season ticket prices would be £250. Ours are £380 for early birds. Does this represent value for money considering we are 2 divisions below them?

nb. Before anyone criticises me for bringing this up, don't as i've already bought my season ticket and don't begrudge paying it!

Well Wigan are trying desperately to get and keep a fanbase so not surprising they've gone that low, with parachute payments they dont really need to maximise their income on the gate.

Whereas we are in the process of building a good fanbase as well as trying to get money in to the club so I wont begrudge the club my money when I renew on Friday.

it's all about context really... in wigan football isn't even the biggest sport... the jjb is packed for rugby league but is very rarely packed for footie. also as a town it isn't very wealthy, and as a club they have moved up very quickly. so they need to establish a fanbase by prettymuch undercutting the rugby league market and being affordable. they have also had a couple of years in the prem to really work out their pricing and this may well actually see increased revenue if they get a few thousand more STH's

Don't forget they play 4 less home league matches, but still very good value at £13.16 per game and they get until the 23rd June to buy at discounted prices. They have reduced the price by 33% from last season. I wonder how much they would have been if they were relegated, free maybe!!

They are probably some of the cheapest season ticket prices in the whole Prem & Football league. I might get one myself!!

there is a possibility that i might end up in wigan next season and so will be well up for getting to some games. easiest prem tickest to get... they are hardly ever sold out!

The main reason Wigan (and some others too IIRC; Bolton, Blackburn perhaps) are able to do this is that they are going to get massively increased TV revenues which mean that they can afford to discount the revenue from STH.

This, together with the reasons you've given above, makes good sense and they can afford it now.

If we got 30 plus mill Stg just for putting a team out and had a load of empty seats, I'm sure SUFC could match that hefty discount

Talking of season tickets we haven't had a 'How many sold' thread yet and I miss all those 'how many sold' for this game and that game so just to start the ball rolling does anybody know how many seasos sold so far?

Parachute payments?

I filled in that survey on the official website yesterday, I have bought my season ticket but I put about the season ticket prices being unacceptabley high!!!

£100 more and you could buy a top 10 premiership season ticket which is outrageous!

On a cost per win basis ours will be execllent value :D

FC Eindhoven season ticket = 127 euros ;)

I currently have a season ticket to Excelsior rotterdam (3rd eredivisie rotterdam club) and this is 250 euros for main stand (south stand where all the usual fans sit is about 140 euros).

If Excelsior stay up tomorrow I can buy two season tickets

Eindhovens at 127
Excelsiors at 140

127 + 140 = 267

267 is 181 pounds!

Under 200 quid for two season tickets, perfect :D

If anything SUFC should have reduced season ticket prices to say sorry to us the fans for getting relegated and going down with a whimper!

SUFC should have used their noddle and reduced them, and more fans would get a season card. Thus creating more revenue.

Makes sense.

There are many (most) countries in Europe where you can pay less to watch their top division than you pay to watch the Conference over here. English football fans are ripped off.

If the season ticket cost is unacceptably high, why have you accepted the offer to purchase?
