Pre-Match Thread Scunthorpe squad for Tuesday

SUFCFANS

Coach
With 2 players from Scunthorpe shown a red card on Saturday - does anyone know if these are significant players for them, OR if they have good players to take their place?? Thanks

Mirfin is a key player and as the other one is the captain, he's probably key too. Expect Liam Trotter to join them on loan from Ipswich in time for tomorrow's game.

Hate to say it, but Hoops is going to run riot. He is on fire at the moment. I hope we keep him cool and quiet. I'm sure Clarkey will sort him out. Old boys returning, always makes me feel nervous!!!

Dont see why we should worry, he's never done much on the Roots Hall pitch ;)

They're both first choice in their backline so both of them are key misses. With our lack of creativity are they going to be bothered though!?

They've completed the signing of Trotter, who although a midfielder looks a good signing. He's someone I rate actually. They're also about to sign a highly rated young left back from Southampton as they've now got injury problems in that position as well.

If Crosby does play though, I'm hoping Tilson makes a point of sticking Theo up against him as his pace would muller him if used properly.

Scunthorpe sign defender and midfielder on loan

Liam Trotter from Ipswich, 19, midfielder
Joeseph Mills from Southampton, 19, defender
Both in squad for tommorow, both for 1 month
That solves there defender shortage, unfortunately

Liam Trotter is meant to be a very handy player as well.

Not sure if this has been covered else where, but Scunny had 2 men sent off at Swindon. Will they be able to play on tuesday night or will their suspensions kick in afterwards?

They are suspended for tonight's game. Only accumulated bookings take seven days to kick in.

Exactly, their 2nd choice defence hasn't got a lot to worry about if its facing our 2nd choice/square peg round hole wingers. I guess the best option is putting Laurent and Robinson up against their defence as both are quite unpredictable.

In fairness to Hoops he was their only threat. You can see why he's got so many goals as he's always playing on the last shoulder and continually got in good positions.

It was good to see him get a good reception as well.

Hoops played well, I thought. They were constantly looking to feed him by playing the sorts of through balls for him to run onto that he thrives on but which he never got here. Had it not been for some good goalkeeping I think he'd have got a goal.

Ironically, I think that this current Southend team probably would quite suit his style of play.

Good luck to him.
