Darryl's Love Child
Yet again he comes on tonight and shows crablike, Grant, Ferdinand and Kalala how to go forward with pace, skill and movement. Why can't the man in charge see that when he is involved we look so much more dangerous and exiting to watch. Like Sturrock but how is he missing this blatant move is beyond me and everyone that i sit with!

oh shut up it was start of season he wernt great in pre season n kala was great tonight he will have his chance

I never understand why people love Sawyer so much, yes he runs with the ball well, but rarely do I see a pass from him and think 'that was a great pass,' like I would with Ferdinand. He seems able to run past people, but then has to rely on another player to be near him so he can offload the ball to them. Also not convinced he knows how to shoot. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on the guy but I'd rather see Kalala and Ferdinand in the middle.

Think Sawyer to be fair to Sturrock is now finding the kind of form and confidence why he resigned him in the first place he is fitter sharper and showing a great mental attitude when ever called apon his preseason wasnt particularly inspiring but your right tonight he showed a lot of good qualities and desire its took a bit of time but i think Sturrocks finally getting him there and you could see tonight Sturrock had along discussion telling him exactly his job on the field before sending him on
he is listening now and playing for the team which is what i believe is the difference and showing a new found maturity

Sawyer is a talent for sure. But there is more than just talent and in Sawyers case there is history. PS has put his money where is mouth is by signing the lad and his getting his chances. But let him jump through some hoops, get his head right and show he is a team player who is willing to say, how high when asked to jump. What a gift to the lad if he can get these things in place, for then he might just be the professional footballer he wants to be.

And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! :winking:

Probably the best midfielder in the entire league. Changed the entire game when he came on today, was fast, direct, and his usual great passing. Even his little cameo against Hereford was fantastic, instantly we looked more dangerous attacking-wise. Can't believe someone up there has suggested Ferdinand is a better passer... over 5 yards perhaps, but he hasn't got the vision that Sawyer has, though they are completely different midfielders so perhaps it's not fair to compare them.

To be fair Orient were on their knees when he came on. In fact they were looking tired before they even went down to ten men.Not sure whether Sawyer would look so effective when starting against a fit strong team. What we're missing is a lightning quick striker, who can get on the end of flick ons and make some clever runs.

IF they were looking so tired before he came on why werent our midfield doing what he did ....then no need for a sub?
No i think to a degree because of his history some fans wont forgive him for a sloppy pass or bad tackle as they would other new players he would have to have 90 mins of excellance and even then get a begrudging acknowledgement ....even then like an alcoholic comments would come up waiting for him to have his next drink so it could be said ...told you so.
Sturrock knows what he has got and did not have to sign him at end of season did he .... he had plenty of time from January to have a good look at him training his attitude as well as in games and probably how well he fitted in with other players whether or not he was disruptive he is NOT a world beater just a damn good player thats under the magnifying glass and likely to always be while he is at our club but good luck to him i think he is starting to show his value again with the squad and he is now settled

Erm......I think you mean division.

Do so agree with people who are praising Lee Sawyer really think he is a class above and is always looking for the ball and knows what to do with it when he gets it.

IMO he is the best attacking midfielder we have and is a class apart in his distribution and thinking.

Thought all of our midfielders played very positively yesterday. And really impressed with Sawyer, I rate him highly.
He's here he's there he's every ______ were, is a very very relevant chant.

Our midfield is extremely competitive this year. League 2 title, thank you!

No no no no no and no again.

Kalala and Ferdinand is like playing 6 at the back. This was the whole reason Orient were all over us for the first 25 minutes last night until Sturrock changed to 4-3-3.

They are both defensive midfielders, and sit in front of the back 4, leaving acres of space for the oppositions midfield to press forward.

I'm not disagreeing that they are defensive players.
But surely that's because we have two out and out wingers in the side. We will win a lot of games from Kane Ferdinand and Kalala breaking down play which they did do yesterday.

I don't really see what the point of sign Kalala was....... good as he looks Sturrock said we needed a defensive midfielder but we already have 2 class acts in Granty and Ferdinand. Surely the money would be better spent providing competition on the wings!?!

Perhaps Sawyer needs to learn a bit of a lesson and break through into the side... but I hope it happens soon... in the middle and not on the wing!!!
