aka Ian Poulter
The SZFC clique had a Crazy Golf and Pub Crawl down the seafront yesterday and naturally en-route a few stops were made to various chip shops.

It was in the Falcon that we all got talking about whats the best to put on your chips, Scrounger even got rather emotional over the subject raving that salt and vinegar is better than tommy k.

So what is everyones favourite here?

After experiencing student food for the past 3 years, it's vital to have some salt and vinegar on it, but also with some mayonnaise.

mayonaise for me... i don't add salt to my food but some pepper and vinegar is always required too

Curry sauce for me, but I'm a bit particular about this as I like Chinese curry sauce rather than the curry sauce you'd normally get from an English style chippy, it can be a bit lumpy and isn't as nice

Can't beat Heinz in my opinion. Having said that all of the above are bloody gorgeous. One sour note, in my local chippy that charge 20p for a sachet of ketchup, thats just ridiculous isn't it?

I verge on OCD when it comes to what goes on my chips.

First and foremost I think 'chip' is much too broad a term. It's like saying "what do you feed your fish?". If you own a goldfish the answer is probably tetra fin flakes or similar. If you are a Bond villian megalomaniac with a tank full of sharks you probably feed them your enemies or employees who have let you down somehow.

I think chips form two distinct groups, crispy (french fries etc.) and soggy (from the chip shop). There are further sub genres but they are beyond the scope of this disussion.

Soggy chips:

Loads of vinegar, lots of brown sauce on the side.

Crispy chips.

No vinegar.

With fish - Tartare sauce.
With burgers - Tommy tomato or burger sauce.
With eggs - Salt.
With steak - Mayonnaise or Bearnaise sauce.

With fish and chips plenty of salt and vinegar and maybe curry sauce but for general chippage it has to be mayonnaise for me!

salt & vinegar, salad cream or brown sauce oh and chinese curry sauce, anything else is the work of the devil!!!!
