I have been moving house and, whilst trying to keep as up to date on Southend's affairs as possible, it's very likely I missed a development or two. I know about Flood... but in the Northampton match photos there's a players called Sampson (no. 26). Is he a new acquisition (if so, from where?)... or is he from our reserves of youths? In what position does he play?

He is an 18 year old striker from Bolton's reserves who is on loan with us since last week for an initial month with a possibility of extension until the end of the season

Also England U19 and very highly rated, chose to come to us rather than stay up north.

He was excellent when came on. Big lad for an 18 year old. Very composed. Held the ball up well, brought others into play, had a big part to play in 2 goals! also looks like he has an eye for goal aswell.

I was hugely impressed by him when he came on. Very excited to see him play again.

Totally agree please can we keep him until the end of the season, pure quality he knew what he what to do, where to be, magic worked will with the team, no disrespect meant to our current squad but this is what weve been missing

Dont want to get too excited over his performance but you could see straight away he had a bit of class about him. Movement, first touch and awareness of other players was excellent. Linked up very well with Dickinson during the short time on the pitch
