21/7, Harris out
Lowest test innings is 26 by NZ, Australia's lowest is 36....
Another cracking game today. Apparently there is a great deal of tweets and coverage about the game and people taking an interest, but it was a low turnout (albeit there was a poor weather forecast).
It's clear that on here most people that follow cricket view Tests as the real thing, and it does seem to bring out more interest, but the limited overs stuff brings people into the stadium. I follow from afar most of the test match series but rarely the limited overs stuff. The fact this was only a 2 match series is a disgrace, but the game has to work out whether the interest people take in Tests is enough even if they are not queing up to go to the stadium. I just can't believe that the lack of people going to the stadiums is done to lack of interest, and surely it is great encouters like this SA v Australia one (actually the last 3 series between them have been quality) that get people hooked and then interested in the limited overs stuff?
Agreed about Test cricket it's the ultimate form of the game IMO. Taking your point about the Saffers v Convicts as a two test series being a disgrace is spot on. Likewise next summer England v Saffers should be a 5 Test series instead of the paltry 3 that we will get. We have the WIndies here in May followed by a ODI series against them then another ODI series against the convicts WTF. While I am pleased we have the Olympics here surely it's not beyond the wit of the ECB to organise a 5 Test series around them.
Meantime great performance by the Aussies to square the series and in Pat Cummins they look like they've found a gem, and he'sonly 18.
I didnt realise it was only 3 tests against South Africa....that is very poor against a team that can rightly claim to be contenders for the number 1 spot. Im sure there wouldnt be a lack of interest in 4 or 5 tests against them, and the ebb and when two top teams meet they deserve the 4 or 5 match series that brings and ebb and flow, different wickets and conditions, players being worked out etc.
