Safe standing areas in England? Do you want a choice?

Hello,

We are StandUpSitDown, a campaign aiming to get safe standing areas at UK football grounds introduced.

This would have many benefits, both for those who like to sit and for those who would prefer to stand. ( http://www.susd.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?ti... )

We are currently looking for more members to join our forum and back the campaign. We have just started a Facebook group to show the authorities how many people care about these issues. ( http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=285656877688&ref=... ) If you are interested in the campaign then please join the facebook group.

If you are particularly interested and want to do more to help the campaign, please join us on our forum ( http://www.susd.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/category-view.asp?showall... ). Aside from being useful for the campaign, the forum is also a place to hear other supporters views on fan culture and football in general, as well as generally fighting for fans' rights. The forum is also supported and co-ordinated by the FSF.

Thank You,

SUSD

All seater for me. If I have to stand I can't drink as much before the game.

fair enough mate, although this proposal would reserve one end behind a goal perhaps (or however much demand there is) for safe standing with the rest of the ground being all seater, it is used currently in the Bundesliga with little trouble, we just believe having one area where all standers wish to go would cut down on the confrontations between fans arguing over people blocking their view or also clamping down on the confrontational nature of some stewards to people standing

I used to sit down when there were terraces, Im lazy like that.

However I think grounds should be able to have controlled terracing areas where people can stand up safely. Even having areas of seats where standing was permitted would be a step forward.

Unfortunately the police cannot be trusted to allow the correct number of fans into an all-standing area.

We have already put this to the club, with regards to our new stadium plans. But I think the cost is the issue.

good luck to that then, hopefully you get somewhere. I may be wrong but to me clubs would back such proposals if it was cost-benefitial but also proven safe, the german model has resulted in zero incidents and proven safe with those involved, whilst I understand the Hillsbrough comparisons we must remember there would be no 10ft high fences trapping people in the stand and with a more alert police force similar problems are unlikely to be found, electronically checking tickets would also stop the old jibbing problems which also made the old terraces a danger

if anyone wants further info about us and our aims then I'm here to reply to any queries and the forum is also open to those who wish to speak with other fans, no pressure!
