Rumour from that crappy rumour site.

'Sunderland are closing in of signing O'Donovan from Cork then loaning him out to Southend United. I have heard this from a reliable source'

probably more likely that they sign him and lend him back to cork for the rest of their season

I read that the Irish league wouldnt allow him to be sold and lent back.

Cant see it being true for us though...

Well I BELIEVE it!!!

BBC was reporting that Keane was interested in signing O'Donovan yesterday. There may be legs on this rumour

Oh its true Sunderland are interested in buying him, its the loan to Southend but that sounds doubtful.

I heard that the whole "loan back" deal that both CCFC and O'Donovan want is the reason our bid failed, we wouldn't agree to it (and rightly so IMO) so he'll go somewhere that will let him return to Ireland till November

Not saying it's true or not , but did strike me as though he wouldn't be first choice at Sunderland but could well be one for the future, so as for Sunderland buying him and loaning him, it could work , as for loaning him tom us then thats a bit strange to be fair.

Would love to see it happen though

I thought the football authorities had put rules in place to stop clubs buying players and immediately loaning them out - players can only transfer twice in a season - or does this only count for international transfers?

I may be completely wrong though!

I think that is the case as IIRC when Liverpool got Mascerano from West Ham at Christmas time there was a lot of talk about whether he could play for Liverpool having appeared for Corinthians (?) and also, albeit fleetingly, West Ham during that season already.
