BlueJ

Royal Holloway Shrimper
Just wondering if anyone here plays rugby for a club and has bought their advanced 2007 Rugby World Cup tickets?

france.. if you can apply to get any then do it.. they will be worth plenty come tournament time.. not that anyone true rugby fan would sell them of course.

Some games in the UK as well, but none in England. Not that I'm too bothered, prefer league myself.

Largely due to our Celtic cousins ganging up against the English bid, which as I recall was superior and guaranteed more money to the respective unions.

Depends how much they cost I guess - I'll probably just watch it on TV!

a rugby day out in paris can be a good laugh.. yes you will have to endure a lots of green wax jackets, people playing spoof on the train for drinks and people called rupert.. but if its a big game against the aussies or wales or best of all france, then paris is a great place to watch it..

Bizarrely, I watched the opening game of the 1999 Cricket World Cup in Paris, at Le Frog et Rosbif.

Awesome day. We beat the Lankans (I think?!), and we also beat our drinking target (11 pints before 11 pm) by 3 hours - so after that it was onto the spirits...

That was my first and only "100-unit" weekend...

Matt, why was there a World Cup game in Paris? and seeing as the tournament was in England, surely we should have played all of our games on home turf?!

i wonder what the reception was like from the french towards cricket...i guess some of them have been watching cricket and perfected their throwing techniques of molotov cocktails towards police...

There were no games from the 1999 Cricket World Cup played in France. The game Matt was referring to was the opening game at Lords when England beat the holders Sri Lanka by 9 wickets.

I think you will find that he was heavily imbibing of the mead in Paris at the time, no doubt trying to explain the intricacies of cricket to the surrender monkeys.

First half: spot on.

Second half: why bother?! It's their loss... they can play the daft version, paddling the ball back with the face of the bat...
