The team are not starting that great at home and that seems to filter to the fans. Not me though I usually finish the game rather hoarse not that it made a jot of difference today mind!

It's a bit of a vicious circle really. We've never had the most vocal of fans but particularly in this poor run, the home support (TBV to at least some extent excepted) doesn't get going. Of course, a better performance generally gets the crowd going but sometimes the anxiety of the crowd translates onto the pitch. Not saying that was the case today though. We were just generally poor in all facets of the game.

To top it all, love it or loath it, pre-match and goal music does at least seem to generate a bit more of an atmosphere but due to lack of licence, we didn't even have that today

Yes it was very subdued today, a bit like the performance on the pitch really.

Did anyone else notice the arguments that were going on between the Southend players, Clohessy and Timlin had a real spat just before he (Timlin) scored?

Also if the d!ck head in the South Upper who thought it cleaver to abuse one of our players after the game is reading this... why dont you just p!ss off and never come back to Roots Hall, we do not need ignorant idiots like you to attend. How would you like it if you went to work and be abused in that way? I think people like you should be banned for life, just as you would be sacked if you did it to colleagues in the workplace.

It was also noticed by many fans, that when you was asked by the player to come down and say it to his face you didnt have the bottle to do so!!

Really? Do tell! Which player?!

As to atmosphere it's kind of a vicious circle, if the lads play well, then the crowd support them better, likewise, if the crowd support them better the lads invariably play well. Neither of these happened today so the result was inevitable. It's also made worse by no bloody music at the Hall - so message to the powers that be...sort the public entertainments licence out!

I take on board Ayrshire Blue's point too, and was a bit disappointed that after a long absence "I do like to be beside the seaside" was heard but the words sounded somewhat different to how I remember them!

Didn't go, but uncle said there was an altercation between a fan and Dickinson in the South Stand.

dickinson, what a shock, If a fan pays he has every right to say as he wants as long as not swearing.

Don't agree. How would you like it if you were on the end of verbal abuse every time you put a foot wrong at work?

It's fine to get frustrated but singling out players for personal abuse is not on in my opinion and is rarely conducive to them putting in improved performances.

all depends on what the fan finds more important, himself or SUFC ?
Abusing your own player does not help them, this argument has been gone over a hundred times before , managers say it does not help so I tend to agree with them. So if you do abuse a player , yes you can argue 'have the right' but you cant then say 'what a wonderful supporter you are'. The two points are totally incompatible

I'm not the most vocal at games, I'll generally only cheer when we score or groan when we concede, but that's a personal confidence thing for me. Therefore I do not boo the team.

That being said, I dont have an issue with those who do boo performances, and today was 'boo'worthy. By registering a crowd boo its the fans way of venting their frustrations and letting the team have a frank assessment. Cheer the good performances, boo the bad ones....how else can we register our assessment? What does it achieve applauding a performance like today's? I certainly wouldn't want the team thinking I enjoyed anything from today!

That being said, I don't think singling players out is the right thing to do as that, in my opinion, WOULD affect player confidence which is counter-productive I think...

Is this Ldnfatso on another mission???

Below the belt Kay for someone who is whiter than white!

The player was Dickinson, the bloke was an idiot from the front row in block G. I for one had a go at him quite vociferously after the game as calling the player a "C**T" was a bit too strong. The player put every bit as much effort as everyone else and is our number 1 forward. I just don't understand what this guy saw to launch such an attack on Dicko. Anyway Dicko heard this and replied to which the idiot shied away.

And Kay or anyone else for that matter, if you r gonna compare this to my altercation with a certain Mr Gower, please make sure you know the full story before commenting!

Don't agree with that Dicko was abused at Cheltenham away aswell but some idiot and Dickenson give it back. This is why the confidence is probably taking a knock because players are being singled out and abused. We are 3rd in the league with a game in hand in all comps Dickenson has 9 Goals but that should be 10 after the Alder**** penalty.

Why don't ppl just lay off and start supporting the team, this time last season we would of lost yesterday and probably lost against AFC Wimbledon after going a goal down there.

Now benyon in and corr still on the treatment table there will be healthy competition up front. Our support in 2nd to none away from home so lets stop abusing and singling players out and cheer them on
