Suffolk Shrimper In Dorset
Director⭐⭐🦐
Well, after several months work by Fitz and myself, and already well over 200 online pre-publication sales, we are now ready!
SO, WE ARE HAVING A PARTY, AND YOU ARE ALL INVITED! It might even be the first fans event at Roots Hall since the last game of 24/25.
Our ‘Roots & All’ book Launch Party is on Friday 18 July 7.00 pm at The Shrimpers Bar, Roots Hall. Free entry, pay bar.
Meet some of our 65 writers, an ex-player or two, learn more about the book, and have a catch up with friends ahead of the season.
HERE IS OUR LITTLE TWO MINUTE PROMO VIDEO FOR YOU TO ENJOY. LIKE THE BOOK, IT'S EMOTIONAL:
Huge thanks go to Sam Duckworth and Andy Thorne in helping me put this video together. We've also had some notable assistance during the whole book process from Paul Yeomanson, Michelle Gargate and Chris Hunt. Thanks to must go to the always top-dollar man Dave Shields for permission to use a couple of his pics in the promo video, and to SUFC fan artist Keith Bird for use of his artwork on the book front and back cover.
Books will be available on the night to buy - some of our writers might even autograph if for you
As a reminder, all profits from book sales are being diverted in to the SUEPA Fund which has as its principal current aim the setting aside of monies to, we hope, one day help fund the setting up of a club museum in our beloved Roots Hall
The part SZ'ers have played in this project to date is fully recognised and appreciated. Indeed, many of you have written a piece for the book. We will be donating £250 to SZ to help with the running costs of the world's number one football club fans forum. We will also be donating the same amount to two former players in need who we have helped before.
This is truly a fans collective effort across the whole fan base - the writers are aged from 17 to 84 (with one of the writers having his two young sons contribute too), from Westcliff to the Australian Outback. One of the writers is former player Garry Nelson (himself an accomplished author) who tells stories from his time as a fan before he started playing. Another is a piece from dear Russ Ralph who sadly passed away in 2001 but whose story was committed to paper shortly before he passed away and kept by one of his good mates. Another is ... well, lets just say it's 'unusually created', you can find that out in the book.
Anyway, Fitz and me hope to see as many of you at The Shrimpers Bar on 18 July as possible.
Cheers
