Ron Martin's letter i.r.o. New Stadium

Blue Shrimp

Guest
I have just received the post containing a letter to all season ticket holders on details of the application to Southend Council. Also, about an exhibition i.r.o. the new ground, commencing Monday 16th October, which will continue for several weeks, in room adjacent to the Club Shop and Ticket Office.

It will be open at dedicated times from 12.00 pm to 4 pm Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Some weekends will be included. A member of the Marketing Staff, Nina Drew will be there to help you.

He states, that he will be writing to all season ticket holders again with a report on progress as the Council start to consider the Club's submissions.

Excellent public relations Ron, well done and thank you.

Can someone transcribe the contents of the letter to those less fortunate enough to be season ticket holders but still have passion for the football club?

ok this is it:

As a season ticket holder i hope you would by now have read - or at least heard - thst the club last week submitted detailed plans for its new stadium to southend borough council.

It will tae the council a minimum of 16 weeks to consider the applictaion. Yhis is a statutory period, primarily due to size, or moreover the area of land coverd by the application. Whilst 16 weeks is a long time to wait for a decision that would truly place Southend United on the map - it must be understood that the council have alot of detail to digest. However, i very much hope that Southend council will be able to bring the applictaion to committee just as soon as the consultation period of 16 weeks has ended, in about mid- january.

In order to you, our supporters, to learn more about the new stadium the club will be commencing an exhibition from monday 16th october which will continue for several weeks. In addition to a large scale model there will be a number of computer genertaed with appendices. Additoonally our marketing department has prepared a short leaflet highlighting details and awnsering FAQs following the fan survey which was carried out earlier in the year.

A detailed animation of the stadium and its facilities will follow and all the material will be on display in a room adjacent to the club shop and ticket office. A member of our marketing staff, Nina Drew, will be in attendance when the exhibition is open at dedicated times from 12pm - 4 pm monday, wednesday and friday. We will also include some weekends in this schedule, over the next month or two, and advise you in good time of when this will be.

I hope this information is helpful. I will be writing to all season ticket hoolders again with a report on progress as the council start to consider the club's submissions.

Up the blues!

When I got my letter this morning, it just made me realise how much more professional the club is these days.

If we jump back to the Jobson/Adams days, an equivalent letter (if indeed one was issued at all) would have been a shambolic effort, full of spelling mistakes, conundrums, and printed on 'bog roll' quality paper.

I know it's only a little thing, but lots of little things make a big difference.

Yes, forgot about that.

I feel we've moved on from there.

Nice one ronald
Its more like he personally signed one letter, and there all photocopies, or his signature is saved onto his comp. Theres no way he individually signed every letter. And just about every letter received in the post is signed off in this way.

If he did then he must have loads of time on his hands.... (You can see it is computer generated.)

So anyone been down to see the model and videos of the new ground yet?

Dont think the animated stuff is there yet, letter says "to follow".

Im going to try to pop down there today.

Yes, went at lunchtime Smiffy!. Very impressive model of stadium and the whole site layout. Video "fly through" not there yet though. The young lady hoped it would be available sometime this week. Did say that the main entrance to the car park would be from the new road off Sutton Road with the Eastern Avenue access for coaches and pedestrians.
