Road Rage!

on the way to work this morning minding my own business and an audi tt was pull over in the bus lane. i drove past as anyone would and as i was level with him he pulled out. luckily i managed to swerve away without getting hit but this led to him right up my **** screaming out the window and swearing at me. i pulled up at some lights that were red and he jumped out the car and ran over to mine, i got out to see what he had say and let alone he began to call me every name under the sun. quite confused as why he thought i was in the wrong i obviously stuck up for myself and told me exactly what i thought of him. he began to push me a few times and shoving his hands in my face and even threw a punch which was well wide. it took passers by to brake it up which he then sped away and nearly crashed into the traffic light.

this guy was about 40 so twice my age and just can't believe he reacted like that when i was honestly at no fault. what the hell is this world coming to where you can't even drive to work without getting abused!

I had an incident a couple of years ago. Was driving down the seafront with my Mrs, going for a summers afternoon relaxing drive. One of the side roads (that lead from Southchurch Park) links to the road along the seafront. A car was edging out on one of the roads, not far from the Gold Coast.

I proceeded to let him out as he was half into the road, so I braked and flashed him. He began to go, then stopped. By now I was only a few yards away from him, so I thought to myself that I have the right away, have tried to let him out, I will drive round him and proceed on my journey. However, he then tried to pull out again, therefore nearly hitting me.

The driver was indicating right, decided to change his mind after I had driven past and went left, now therefore up my ****. Proper tailgaiting and flashing me, he then decided to overtake on the wrong side of the road. Fortunately, or unfortunately as the case may be, there were no oncoming traffic. He then cut me up and slammed on his brakes. I had to break sharply, almost performing an emergency stop.

He got out of the car shouting the odds. Not to be stereotypical, but this geezer looked like a builder... he was extremely broad, bald head, foul language etc.. I decided the best thing to do was stay in the car, although I only had a couple of seconds to make this decision.

His reasoning went along the lines of something like:

"You ****ing ****, you ****ing ****, I've got kids in the back etc.."

He then walked to my window (which was down because it was very hot) and smacked me good in the face, catching my jaw.

By now there was quite a queue of traffic behind me, simply witnessing these events. Swearing the odds, he jumped back into the car and turned off at the nearest side road.

First of all, if he kept referring to his safety, please can someone explain to me why he a) was constantly swearing at me and b) why he felt the need to hit someone right in the view of his children who were watching out of the back window.

Unfortunately these events happened so quickly neither me nor the mrs managed to note the license plate number.

What was supposed to be a pleasant afternoons drive turned into a nightmare, with the mrs quite upset after that.

Also, why is the one time I haven't got any lads in the car, something like this happens? To this day, I wonder how the events would have panned out had a couple of mates been with me. I think 3 of us may have been able to deter this idiot.

However, I digress. What a complete nobjockey!

my mum and dad were driving down in benfleet the other week... they were behind an audi i think as they crossed over that nasty double roundabout before sadlers farm roundabout... im not sure the exact details but i think the audi cut up this blacked out range rover and as they drove off my parents were following behind... the road is now in two (narrow) lanes and the range rover sped along side the audi and then proceeded to ram it in the side repeatedly... the audi stopped up on the pavement and my parents pulled over beside and then the range rover driver just sped off, quite possibly the craziest driving i have ever heard! what a psycho!

Very true and I agree it would have been a different scenario.

However, I remember you coming round mine for a BBQ a couple of days after to tell me and Yorkshire Bambi this story. To this day, I still remember me and Bambi laughing so hard it was hurting. It still has pride of place in the top 10 of "Harsh and should not laugh, but it's just too funny moments"!

I also wonder, what would happen now if the same thing happened this sumer. You must be another foot taller and weigh in another 5stone heavier these days!

Yeah, sorry about that mate. I had the hump because I asked my wife overboiled my eggs this morning and burnt my toasted soldiers.

Again, I can only apologise.
