RIP - Fred Titmus

Sadly former England & Middlesex all rounder Fred Titmus has passed away aged 78. He was an England regular in the 60's & 70's, and IIRC he opened the innings on a few occasions, when his normal position would have been number 8 or 9. He also lost 4 toes in a boating accident on an England tour of the West Indies.

RIP Fred.

RIP indeed. He was before my time so I dont know much about him, but he was one of my Dad's favourite players so this is sad news.

I never realised he was that old to be honest. Although I never saw him play his was one of those names that you always thought of when talking about cricket.

He was also immortalised in song....

Half Man Half Biscuit

I wont call him a legend, just in case DWB is reading, but to have played professional cricket, and football, and still played professional (and test) cricket after losing four toes must make him a bit special.
