Richie Foran - looks a great player

CHEMICO FC

Manager
Hes got that look and abilitly of Craig Belamey,i think you will agree with me, those that se him last saturday will do, the rest of you on friday night to.He looks a good player.

Does look a good player, and I can see where your coming from aka Craig Bellamy. Take a bit of pace off, add a bit of height and jumping & heading ability, plus dumb down the rest of the stats a little, yeh does seem to remind me of him. Is that just because of his slightly nasty attitude and blonde hair? Not sure.

All I know is he looks good, looks gritty, looks like what we need, and hasn't even settled into our league and our style yet. Good things to come I suspect.

I thought Foran won a lot of headers you wouldn't expect him too. Another plus was when he arrived late at the back post and headed over, you could see that he was gutted and felt that it was a good chance. It looked pretty difficult to me.

attacking wise i don't think we do have many good headers of the ball. our best is deffiantley barrett. sodje isn't and neither is clarke. would be nice to have a forward who is in the box all the time and gets a few headed goals. bradders isn't bad at headers but he only lays the ball off he's not in the box when the cross comes in

Only think with heading is foran is more likely to be crossing than heading at the moment. I think he will be used wide for the time being.

And who said Sodje isnt a good attacking header of the ball, he is a menace at corners.

Spot on:cool: with your comments I too noticed how gutted he looked.A strong player, good in the air with a brain so knows when to and went not to pass.

ps...Sodje to me is hands down the best header in the team.He always attacks the ball.Remember when we were having a knightmare at the back and he was the only one we could rely on.

No he's not. Don't get me wrong, I think Efe is fantastic - a brilliant defender and a superb athlete - but one thing he isn't is a menace at corners. He has scored precisely one goal for us since joining last January - and that goal was in our 4-1 rout of Brentford (on a day when, frankly, the Bees were awful).

Since then, Efe hasn't scored a single goal from a set piece... hardly one's definition of "menacing".

The last time we had a true menace from the set piece was Adam Barrett in our 2004-05 promotion winning side.

Whilst he hasnt scored any he is always the likeliest to connect with the ball.

He has had plenty of chances but so far most have gone just over / wide etc.

He almost won us the game vs Spurs in the Qtr final.

Out of our first 11 Sodje is the biggest threat we have at the moment, whether he converts them or not.

Clarke does also seem to be doing quite well at set pieces.

Pardon ? :)

haha, sodje is a legend and scored an important goal today... but to be honest he didn't look fully fit or something today. wasnt his best

No first half he looked rather wobbly to be honest, better second half though and got some importnat challenges in.
