Revell

shrimperboy84

Schoolboy
Revell has made this weeks goal of the month round up on sky sports news, his goal was shown along with the like of Pedro from Barca and Berba from United

nice one, shame it wasn't for us

If it makes him more likely to join Swindon then I am all for it.

We don't have a striker like Revell now, someone that can really unsettle defenders. Ok, he didn't score many, but he made enough of a nuisance of himself to give others an opportunity in and around the area and would welcome him back.

i thought he was useless at the begginning and he eventually won me round, then he gets put out on loan.
I hope he comes back in january on a high and scores a few in the last half of the season, however i doubt he will come back

Short of running around like a headless chicken what exaclty are we missing?

Revell has a woeful strike record with us, he has the turning circle of a large vessell, no pace or vision, he can only play the way he is facing, he is poor in the air for a big man......Must I go on....????

He is behind as I make it Barnard, Laurent, Freedman and maybe O'Donovan in current standings. Walker at least has real pace the side and a decentish scoring record to offer compared to Revell's what?????

If he didnt write such a good blog then I dont think he would be half as popular as he seems to be.4 goals in 40 odd games for us, 5 in 57 for Cambridge.Hardly the stuff of legends is it.

Dave think you will find his goals to games ratio isnt much better than any of our other strikes apart from Barney. WOuld rather have Revs than O Donovan right now. Or carthorse Freedman.

Couldn't agree more. Workrate and being a good bloke can hide a multitude of sins.

Was Revell really any better than Matt Harrold? Certainly Harrold won far more in the air, wheras I found Revell lost far too many for his height.

If it was Revell with the unfortunate colouring and Harrold who wrote decent blogs, I suspect peoples views on the two would be reversed.

Horses for courses (no pun intended).

The 2nd he scored at the weekend was a belter, maybe his style of play is suited better at Swindon.
If he comes back, I won't be unhappy, but if he does sign for Swindon, good luck to him, though I bet he scores against us on his return, don't they all.

Revell was a hard working target man,During his time here Revs was played on the wing and a winger he aint,Seems odd Swindon currently in the play offs are getting the best out of Alex.

I always liked his style of play and would select him before deadly Doug.

Revs, more donkey than horse. I liked him though, but where was the quality for us when he was on the pitch?

Still ain't forgiven him for missing the header to put us 2-0 up at home to Chelsea just before half-time.

Revell played almost all his games for us upfront! I can't knock his workrate but his ability and striking is simply not good enough.

Yes he was a character, good for team spirit and would run his legs into the ground but as a striker he didn't do enough infront of goal.

Revell probably played on the wing twice in the entire time he was here.

There is a massive difference between running around like a headless chicken and actually running around with a purpose. Rev's unfortunately was the former; a headless chicken.

People do get confused with these, but if you watch most of the top players in the world none of them will ever chance anything they don't think they will be able to get, instead they save there energy for when it matters, when they get the ball, or need to get onto the end of something.

These are often called "lazy" players in england because we would rather someone bust a gut for 90 minutes, not get near the ball, maybe upend a few players, pick up a booking, but as long as they tried hard that's ok.

Yes Rev's worked hard, but i would rather have James Walker personally, at least he has the ability to change a game, even if we haven't seen it often enough!

Have to agree with you there. The only asset Revell would give us would be to use him as a sub, if we were 2.0 up and trying to protect the game in an onslaught. He does at least put the opposing deffence under pressure and would take some strain off the midfield.

They were talking about a similar thing on Soccer Saturday a couple of weeks back, about Berbatov being lazy and how you compare is work rate to someone like Martin Paterson at Burnley, who runs around with purpose and has a decent scoring record. But Berbatov would still be in most people's dream teams.

I'm a tad concerned that the knives are out for O'Donovan so quickly. Perhaps it's something about our multimedia, on-the-go, fast-paced lives... but it seems as fans we've got collective ADHD.

Kevin Maher would never have made it as a Southend player in these times, that's for sure - it wasn't that long ago, but I seem to recall that for most of his first year he was pretty dire. He came good eventually, though, didn't he?

O'Donovan - who has barely kicked a ball for Sunderland, and who has been at RH for all of five minutes - appears to be the biggest donkey on the face of the earth, according to the hair-triggered opinions of the ShrimperZone faithful.

But on what basis do you reach that conclusion? We know he's quick - anyone who was at Brentford saw that. We know he has good awareness - his flick to Franno at Withdean to set up the first goal showed great footballing vision. We know he has scored goals in the past - he got oodles of them in Ireland.

And yet he's "sh*t", he should be "sent back to Sunderland", some are even offering to drive him back.

Honestly - as a bunch of fans, I often think that we get the footballers we deserve... such as the Alex Revells of this world, who seemingly can charm the birds from the trees (never mind that they only hit the back of the net once in a blue moon) - rather than, occasionally, giving some damaged goods from another club a bit of a chance so that we can allow them to fulfil the undoubted potential they have.

Hey ho. I'd love it if O'Donovan proved the moaners wrong on here tonight.

Matt
