Just received this... I think in his quiet way he is asking for Mildew to get some support for a change.

A Statement From Club Chairman Ron Martin

The Winning Starts Tomorrow!

It would be an understatement to suggest we have had an indifferent start to the season. In reality, it has been a dreadful start but there has also been a strong mixture of really bad luck.

There are many, many reasons to be positive whilst recognising we have missed Alan McCormack’s additional energy in midfield and experience. Alan is on the mend but it would be foolish to try and rush his recovery from the cartilage operation. Hopefully Macca will be available for selection in the next two to three weeks.

Steve Tilson and his backroom management are still anxiously searching for a suitable reinforcement in the centre of the park and I, like all our fans, look forward to that happening – notwithstanding the youngsters thrown in the deep end have been very encouraging. With so many new faces coupled with the disruptions in midfield this, in my view, has contributed to what I feel has been a lack of cohesion whilst the players take a period to adjust to one another.

Nevertheless there are many bright points from which to draw confidence and the team spirit, led by Adam Barratt, is unquestionable. There can be no doubt there is a commitment from all the players to see your Club rise up the League as I have no doubt we will do.

The next five games could transform our position and I would urge all fans to show positive support for each and every player for this is the only way to get the best from the team.

We have a fantastic supporter base and let’s do our best to prove that against Hereford tomorrow.

Up the Blues!

Good to see our chairman is trying to rally the troops, as read on here we HAVE budgeted 8500 this year, Rons knows tomorrow will less than 6500 will turn up tomorrow.. jusy bought my ticket online loads of seats left in the East stand..... GLORY HUNTERS HAVE DESERTED OUR CLUB after a few lost games ... ******S

Still think it was a bit silly to budget for 8,500 crowds seeing as we 'only' averaged 8,172 last season. With some season tickets being increased by 20% this season it is very unlikely that the average crowd will be more than last season. Last season the South Lower was almost sold out to Family Stand season ticket holders it will be interesting to see how many are in the South Lower tomorrow.

It's not all doom and gloom though as we know full well that the atmosphere can actually be better with a smaller crowd.

Know at least 6 in the south upper who have given up season tickets, saw them at the orient game and they asked me when the leeds game was so looks like they have blown it out unless its a big game

If people are that fair weather that after a couple of defeats then maybe the club is better off without such "support".

Lots of people say this sort of stuff after a couple of bad games but it gets to saturday lunchtime and the option comes down to seeing the mighty Blues with a ticket already paid for or maybe a traipse around Lakeside with the Mrs and kids...

No contest is there?

They'll be there.

I doubt theres anyone who would shell out nearly £400 for a season ticket and then turn round after a few bad games and not turn up again.

If they were willing to splash that out then they must know that teams do sometimes have purple patches.

This is starting to do my head in. Purple patch means a period of outstanding achievement, raising your game, etc... no?

I'd take a purple patch over every other colour thank you.
