Mick
The Ref Aficionado.
We have played Maidenhead seven times with four wins, one draw and two defeats and this season’s miserable home defeat brought an end to our run of four consecutive wins.
For our first ever Saturday match at Maidenhead, the referee will be high-flying Elliott Swallow, from the South Shore area of Blackpool. In his early 30s, he was educated at Lancaster University. He joined Arriva and within 5 years had worked his way up to Head of Operations. Then he moved on to Transport for Wales, based in Cardiff, as Head of Current Operations.
This is his sixth season at this level, although he missed most of last season, and his stats this season are: 9 matches, 39 yellows and 2 reds (both in the same match).
He refereed Southend twice in 2021/22, performing particularly well in our televised 3-2 win at Woking. Bookings for Ralph and Neal and one of theirs. Later in the season he was a late change for the match at Barnet. Another victory (3-1) and yellows for Kensdale, Atkinson and Gubbins plus three of theirs including Fonguck.
The following season he took charge of our early season game at Halifax. A goalless draw with yellows for Miley and Crowhurst and a couple of theirs. Later that season he refereed another goalless draw at Bromley on New Year’s Day. Yellows to Kensdale, Demetriou and Wreh and a couple of theirs. So unbeaten from four away games with him refereeing.
First assistant will be Dean Treleaven from Portsmouth who spent four years refereeing at National League level before reverting to a specialist Assistant Referee role. He has spent the last 8 years assisting in Football League matches from the Championship downwards. The other assistant is Grzegorz Kornasiewicz from Witney, who ran the line in both Maidenhead matches in 2022/23 – we won them both. Fourth Official will be Nathan Oakes from Colchester.
