Ref for Friday

Hooly

Keeper of the Lucky Gherkin⭐🦐
as it's always the same story!

The referee for Friday's game is Mr Paul Taylor of Hertfordshire.  Now like Mr Paul Robinson of wherever I don't seem to have fond memories of Mr Taylor, but having checked soccerbase I realise how wrong I am.

He seems to have only refereed our home games and the status shows

Played - 8
Drawn - 1 (a 4-4 draw with York in 97/98)
Won - .........................................wait for it.............................0 yes that is None
Lost - 7

I now know why I don't have fond memories of him, I absolutely bl**by hate the b*st*rd!!!  Scriven, get the club onto it & get the s*dding w*anker changed!

Not too promising! But neither have we been over recent seasons at home. But we're better now and I doubt that even as bad as the refs are he couldn't have been responsible for all those losses! All refs are equally atrocious at this level anyway so the decisions usually even themselves out. Like the non penalty at Lincoln for Wayne Gray and the penalty that never was given at Swansea. Forget the ref lets hope and have enough faith in our boys to think he won't be a factor.

Hope not! I'd love to see that! Speaking of South upper, any body know who those two huge vile blokes are? Who sit middle of the south upper at the front? Always swearing and dribbling! Real neandeathal types, any idea?

Are you sure Ken? Sounds familiar to me (from my position sitting just behind the front row, possibly behind said 'huge vile blokes')

I presume you're talking of "shouty Maher bloke", aka Nick, aka Nick the Millwall fan (haven't worked that one out).

He's accompanied by "Quo" Jeff, who I am perpetually worried is going to have a coronary at a reffing decision... and the Zone's very own Custard Splat (admittedly, a less frequent visitor on SZ of late... that's fatherhood for you!).

biggrin.gif

There's also the board's very own Fat Bastid, who sits a few seats down from them... although, again, he's seen here very infrequently nowadays.

Dunno - next time I see him in the South Upper, I'll ask.

(Well, when I say "next time I see him", I should point out that he's a seaso; it's just that I'm not always there...!)

Are they related to the two blokes who sit in the middle of the front row in block I of the south upper.
Admittedly they are not big & vile but they also appear to nearly have heart attacks over the refs decisions each week, and always offer our players some useful advice when they make mistakes.

The 'happy brothers' must have played football themselves at a much higher level to be in a position to criticise so easily.

Very telling that he hasn't progressed from lower league games in 8 years - he must be crap.

Any ideas who the 7 loses were against?

98/99    0-1 Cambridge
            1-4 Brentford
99/00    1-2 Darlington
00/01    no game
01/02    0-1 Plymouth
02/03    1-2 Bury
03/04    1-2 Orient
04/05    1-2 Wycombe

Mick the Ref is right, I missed a sole victory in 97/98.  But I don't think that 7 losses in the last 7 seasons is much to be optimistic about for his performance.  But then I'm a superstitious old git!
