Red Ken's back

But Boris is doing ok, and he has bags more charisma and personality and dare I say intelligence too, don't think Ken is the answer at all. Poor Oona King though, she might have done a decent job given the chance.

I'm disappointed. We had Livingstone for eight years, told him to sling his hook in 2008 (democratically my lefty chums; I know you don't think it's fair that an Old Etonian won, but he did, so please get over it) and now he's trying to get back in. I might have considered voting for Oona King, but there's no way on earth (assuming I'm still in the London area) that I'll be voting for that little **** in 2012.

Having said that, it will be an interesting election. Cuts will be biting, but at the same time there will be a feelgood factor with the Olympics just around the corner. The Underground network should be in a much better state than it is now (most of the lines are closed or part closed for maintenance every weekend at the moment) and if it is, that'll play massively in to Johnson's hands.

As Uncle Leo says the cuts will be biting in by the time the election is held. Those people who voted for Boris(and effectively secured his win) in the leafy outer London suburbs might want to send a message to the coalition and Labour's core vote in the inner city should hold and improve under Miliband.
Leaving party politics aside(for a moment)I've always thought it would be an injustice for the man who did so much to bring the Olympics to London(and hopefully regenerate the East End) not to be at the helm when they take place.
Nothing against OK but I don't think she has the charisma that the old newt lover does nor (it would appear) the political infighting skills that KL has in abundance.

Oh, I have plenty against Oona King. She was my constituency MP and I will never forgive her for being a careerist lacking any backbone whatsoever. She completely betrayed the constituency voting in favour of the Iraq war (and against investigations into it) and was rewarded by losing one of the safest Labour seats in the country. It serves her right.

In 8 years she voted against the government line on about 8 occasions - the most serious one being on something to do with some minor committee chairmanship - and strongly backed loads of controversial government schemes that any Labour MP with a conscience would have blocked: Iraq war, tuition fees, stricter asylum system, foundation hospitals, ID cards etc etc. She's an awful, awful lackey and as much as I disagree with Red Ken's (and Gorgeous George's) policies, at least he's got the bollocks to stand up for what he believes in.

As for Red Ken, surely he'll be too old and will appear a dinosaur in contrast to the youthful vigour of Cameron/Clegg/Miliband and even Boris.

Interesting account.I'd no idea you were a frustrated Labour voter.
