Wonder what the two XI's, featuring in correct position, of record transfer received and paid would look like?

Something like this, I think:

Stannard
Poole Clarke Lapper Stimson
JCR Marsh Bailey Foran
Thomson Rammell

Freeman
Austin Edwards Prior Powell
Hall Bailey Ferdinand Otto
Collymore Eastwood

Excellent work. The only one I might argue with is Ryan Hall as the deal taking Colin Morris to Blackpool and bringing Derek Spence here was worth £111,111 - was Hall as much as that??

I think so, but it's getting harder to get figures for transfers these days. I think JCR probably went for more than the Morris swap deal in any case.

Whilst Keith "Dublin" Donkey was signed as a centre-back (cheers Spud), he played left-back for us (or at least I think he was supposed to be playing left-back) on a number of occasions. He should probably replace Stimson.

I'm not too sure on the keepers. I've included them on the basis that they are the only ones I can think of that were bought or sold.

Pretty sure that Neil Freeman was £100k to Birmingham which was a fortune in those days. Beyond him I can't think of any that have actually been sold. Although Sean Rafter may have gone to Leicester for cash.

I think we paid £40k for Stannard. We paid Chicago Sting £20k for Mervyn Cawston. Can't think of any others we have stumped up cash for.
