roots maul - Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronet, OM, GCVO

v

Clinton Baptiste - Robert Frederick Chelsea "Bobby" Moore, OBE

Elgar did go to wolves for a while, with the vicar's daughter- but his real passion later in life was horse racing.

Great people of Shrimperzone, you know the music, you know the 'tache, you know the feeling of patriotism when his music is played.

West Ham fans may say: Bobby Moore, number 6!

I say: Edward Elgar, Pomp & Circunstance march Number 1!

West Ham Scum!

Southend world cup winning legend:D

Mate of mine who i won't name was a ressie under the Moore at the time and was doing really well. Thing was though, he liked a drink and women a bit too much. One time he missed training and told SUFC that he'd got an injury. Well, Bobby sent the boys round his dad's to see if the story held up and suprise suprise, my mate was nowhere to be found.
Unbeknown to my mate at the time, there was a year's contract on offer to him ahead of his full-pro debut on the Fri night, so impressed were the club with his ability.

Unfortunately my mate got called into his office before Friday and told to sit down, making it feel all official like, then Bobby held up the contract in front of the lad, ripped it up in front of his face and told him to clear off!

Bombing a decent player out of the club when we were so poor probably explains why Mooro never pulled up any trees whilst manager here.

Still gets my vote in front of some poncey musician however.

That may depend if that player went on to have a decent career elsewhere, which may be doubtful.

Having said that I've voted for Moore.

He most certainly did not, only locally. Seeing that contract being ripped up in front of him messed the lad's head up and is something i suspect will bear heavily on his mind 'till the day he goes.
It was all made worse when he also found out that the SUFC player that was making way for my mate had already "been found" another club. In other words he was being bombed out for this up and coming starlet, but obviously the club then looked elsewhere.

Another funny story at the time was when my mate played a ressie vs first team game and the ressies were well on top. Mooro was standing in the background so to speak and "observing" play. Anyway, Steve Philips played a backheel to one of the first teamers and it went astray, over bounded Bobby and gave poor Phillips an almighty bollocking, saying the Stiffs were caning them and you've got the nerve to try fancy stuff like that, then vowing that was the last time he'll play for this club before sending him off the training pitch.
My mate said that was the last time he saw Phillips:stunned: It certainly was as he left to join Torquay Utd.
