Bought a near new KA back in January. First car, 16k on the clock, nice new and shiney. I've not yet had an accident whilst in the car, or caused an accident in any way.....

Parked my car in a public car park...come back to it and someone hit it and left a huge dent...havent even bothered to ask the cost of this yet

Then several weeks later driving up the A1 and a foriegn lorry drove to close to me and took my side mirror off just past Doncaster....

...Now on 18,000 on the clock and it needs the sodding Steering rack changed!!!!!

Is this normal or an incredible run of bad luck....

To add insult a bird pooed on my head the other day as i got out my car..was told this was good luck.....hmmmmmmm....I saw it more of a major inconvience!

FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily ;)

Pleasures of owning a car mate, my first car was a Citroen Saxo and in my whole 2 and a half years of ownership I went through 3 driveshafts, clutch, gearbox and countless amount of wheel bearings.

But then again my Corsa which I had for again 2 and a half years I had nothing go wrong with it and I had that from new and part exchanged it for my Alfa with about 32000 on the clock.

Well if a bird pooed on my head I would definitely not go out with her again.:nope:

Classic.

Beginners bad luck mate. I've had my Peugeot 106 2.5 years now, first car also. Needed a new ignition barrel, a major engine repair, a new exhaust, 3 new tyres, fixed c-joint, all in the first 6 months. Luckily nothing has gone on since!

Had the same thing. Driving on a country lane I hit (what I think was) a badger which absolutely destroyed my bumper and lights. Spent over £200 sorting that out only for a week later some stupid bint not give way at a roundabout and smash it all up again.

This was covered by insurance fortunately but I might as well have took that £200 and chuck it down the toilet.

Did you buy from a dealer or privately cos dealers usually give some guarantees ?

Car was bought from a family memeber who had rarely used the car..hence the low millage. Its only an 03 reg and had done 16,000. Unfortunatly it missed a service or two when it was not being used warrentee was invaild..... now on ebay selling bits an pieces to get £450 to fix. I'm just amazed how a steering rack can break at such low millage, even the mechanic was stunned.

It is a Ford KA though, and it seems to be listed as a common fault with the car....bloody fords!...Anyone recommend 206's at all as thats the next car i'm thinking of moving onto.

My sister has a 206 and no problems so far. Must say my 106 has been fantastic after all the trouble at the start: it's a 1997 reg, low mileage, i drive it a lot up and down to Dublin and Donegal, and not a bother. Only thing about Peugeot's are the parts are a bit expensive from what my mechanic says. Could be different over there in England though
