Random quiz for you

Matt the Shrimp

aka Harry Potter
OK folks, here's a random quiz for you... and no cheating!

You're not allowed to look up the answers - instead, see if you can remember off the top of your head, and/or base it on how good or bad you think we've been in the last few years.

I'll reveal the answers at 2pm - but in the meantime, post what you think, off the top of your head, are the right answers. The questions are all about the solidity of our defence at Roots Hall:

1. How many times did Southend concede three or more goals at home in 2005-06?

1.1 Bonus point for naming the opposition

2. How many times did Southend concede three or more goals at home in 2004-05?

2.1 Bonus point for naming the opposition

3. Now, you may have already answered this, but just to check... when was the last time Southend conceded three or more goals at home in the league?

3.1 Bonus point for naming the opposition

* * *

So, no looking up... give the answers you think are correct.

There are a few clues in your original challenge MtS

1. How many times did Southend concede three or more goals at home in 2005-06?

Once

1.1 Bonus point for naming the opposition

Southampton

2. How many times did Southend concede three or more goals at home in 2004-05?

Once?

2.1 Bonus point for naming the opposition

Luton definitely...

3. Now, you may have already answered this, but just to check... when was the last time Southend conceded three or more goals at home in the league?

2003/2004?
3.1 Bonus point for naming the opposition

1) Southampton in the League Cup, lost 0-3.
2) Loo-Town in the FA Cup, Lost 0-3.
3) Mansfield Town in 03/04, Lost 0-3.

Who, me? Nah, it was something that occurred to me when looking at Robin Michel's excellent SUFC Database - he now has a section dealing with time-elapsed statistics.

As you can see, towards the bottom there's the stat of "How long since we... conceded more than two at home". The rest of the quiz flowed from there.

In fact, it's taken me just as long to respond to your post...

Oh, and you're all far too clever - you've got the answers already. Unexpectedly, the last time we shipped three at home before Mansfield's visit (the second home league fixture in 2003-04) was in the second home league fixture in 2002-03... against Shrewsbury, of all sides!

that was the year they got relegated, wasn't it....?

strange game if I remember correctly, went 1-0 up early on then looked useless for the next 50 minutes or so as we conceded three before Tes pulled another one back with a penalty... 3-2.

we then beat them in the away game, IIRC.
