Got a PM from TBS last night ...

Hiya BB,

Hope you like the photo!! I know I have another couple elsewhere, which I may find Tuesday night!!

Anyway, as before, I'm not about early enough to fight for the Doolittle cause, so would you mind doing the honours for me?!

You probably read the reason why this is such a great, breakthrough album, even if a little unknown by the Sun reading public!

The main reason being "their influence on recent music is greatly unknown! Amongst those who give the Pixies as their main influences include, The Smashing Pumpkins, Thom Yorke (Radiohead) Pearl Jam, The Bloodhound Gang to name a few. Probably the biggest band who claim that Pixies were their biggest influence, is Nirvana. Kurt Cobain even admitted to trying to copy Pixies songs!"

Rather than tell you how great this album is, I will let you listen to it yourselves. It has the lot, melodic, thrashy or quirky & different! There will be something for everybody on Doolittle, which takes some doing on your first proper album! Enjoy!

Last but not least, the great Debaser!

Don't forget,

VOTE DOOLITTLE!!!

Once again today, no contest. The Pixies with pure genius expressed with youthful anger and guitars versus a bunch of poncey middle class hippies.

I've tried to get in to Dark Side of the Moon and just can't. God it's dull.

Doolittle on the other hand is a work of total genius and an album I just never tire of. A worthy winner of this round and indeed the whole competition.

Vote Pixies!

I've never known anybody talk so much **** about music as you do.

The Pixies are **** too.

If this garbage beats Dark Side then there surely must be some sort tof conspiracy here.

I know I'm biased, but if we're honest here, its an age thing. The Pixies are more recent & relevant to most people on here compared to Dark Side. If it had been The Wall, it might be a bit different. That said, I own Dark Side, but rarely play it & Doolittle is the Nuts!!

VOTE DOOLITTLE!!!!

It won't matter what ********s on here vote, Dark Side of the Moon will always be regarded by people that really know music as being truly one of the greatest albums of all time.

The Pixies don't even come close either.

I can not get excited about Pink Floyd. To me, they always remind me of old school mates that used to think that by listening to them they were cooler than they really were. It just sounds so dreary. They always seemed to take themselves so sreiously too.

Perhaps I've just listened to the wrong stuff but it's just prog rock rubbish in my opinion.

I stand by my statement in the first round. Pink floyd = cack!

Its all about opinion & Dark Side wasn't even P F's best album!!

How can the Pixies get even close to anything ever done by PF?
Absolutely ridiculous.

Stevo.............

A. This is a football forum and not really populated with many knowledgeable music critics.

B. it is not just about the album for some voters unfortunately.

Can PF say that they've never made a crap album? Dark Side is decent album, not one I've played in years, but I could never slag it off either. I would also refer you to Aberdeens last post too! That said, I don't think people are voting for me!!

Thing is though, they did. And beyond.

Not that it proves anything, but Doolittle came second in an NME poll for greatest album of all time a few years ago, so this is hardly a minority view. Incidentally, Nevermind came first in said poll.
