The Sopranos (graysblue.jr)
v
Band of Brothers (steveo)

This is it, the big one, whoever wins this will surely be the favourite for the whole competition. Many have said this should be the final, but they meet in the Quarterfinals, that's the magic of the cup.

I'm the other way around Paul, should have watch the Sopranos but never got around to it, however BoB is absolutely superb

Toughest draw yet, but im sure the Brothers will see this one through.

Frank Perconte: Kind of remind you of Bastogne?
George Luz: Yeah, now that you mention it. Except, of course, there's no snow, we got warm grub in our bellies, and the trees aren't ****ing exploding from Kraut artillery, but yeah... Frank... other than that, it's a lot like Bastogne.
Frank Perconte: Right?
George Luz: Bull, smack him for me please?
[thump]
George Luz: Thank you.

Bill Guarnere: I don't know whether to slap you, kiss you, or salute you. I told these scallywags you was okay.
Sgt. Denver 'Bull' Randleman: And they didn't listen?
Bill Guarnere: Naw, these salty *******s, they wanted to go on a suicide run to drag your *** back.
Sgt. Denver 'Bull' Randleman: Is that right?
Bill Guarnere: Yeah, I told 'em don't bother.
Sgt. Denver 'Bull' Randleman: Never did like this company none.

This really should be the final... The other shows that have made it this far aren't a patch on either of these two.

Band of Brothers really is fantastic viewing from start to finish, brilliantly written and directed with some great acting. Damian Lewis is superb as Dick Winters, even Donnie Wahlberg gives a stand up performance.

The Soprano's, however, is the finest piece of TV ever made. For 6 seasons, it's intelligent, terrifying yet hillarious at the same time and stays true to life on a subject that is so easy to glamourise (See Goodfellas/Scarface). Truth be told, the only way I can pull them apart is that BoB was fantastic for 10 episodes. The Soprano's was epic for Six Seasons. Alright, the finale was probably the biggest anti-climax in Television history, but that doesn't take away from the shows superiority over most of the trash that is shown today.

[the dean of a college that Meadow is applying to is asking Tony for a $10,000 donation]
Carmela Soprano: I think you should pay him, Tony.
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: No ****ing way!
Carmela Soprano: What, your daughter's future isn't worth 10,000 dollars?
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: That's not it. That mother****er's full of ****. He's shaking me down.
Carmela Soprano: No, he's not.
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Oh, yeah? Who knows more about extortion, me or you?

Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: You're looking good. Looking better.
Corrado Erico 'Uncle Junior' Soprano: Tony, if you're gonna lie to me, tell me there's a broad in the car waiting to tongue my balls.
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Hey, You want that, it's a phone call away.

Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Maybe I should tap into my roots, too. My grandmother was half Indian.
Christopher Moltisanti: Get the **** out of here.
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: No, it's true. She was in the Fakawee tribe.
Christopher Moltisanti: Oh, yeah?
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Yeah. When they used to get lost in the woods, they stopped and said "Where the Fakawee?"

(After Christophers Drug Problem)
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Listen to me, the only reason I did this is because you're my nephew, and I love you. If it were anybody else, they would've gotten that intervention through the back of their ****ing head.

You can't vote against a program that uses the c word so liberally.

Can't remember the exact quote from uncle Junior but...

"My nephew is only a ****s hair away from running the whole of Jersey - and I'm that ****"

Uncle Junior: (Carter is typing for Junior) ...And hope to hear from you soon, sincerely... no... respectfully, Corrado Soprano. Read it back.

Carter Chong: Dear Vice President Cheney, as a powerful man all too familiar with accidental gunplay, I am writing in a hope that you will intervene in my case. Like yourself, I was involved in an unfortunate incident when a gun I was handling misfired.

Agree with the consensus, both were brillaint shows. But The Sopranos was superb for 6 seasons, which is a difficult thing to do as TV history shows us. I always liked the scenes between Tony and his psychiatrist, tv gold.
