Puma Kings or World Cups?

New football boot time...

my Predators fell apart at the end of last year and now my Mucurial Vapours have had it... both pairs were good boots but I wasn't impressed by their quality... only lasted about 18months each so I'm thinking about going back to some old school World Cups. I had a pair when i was about 16 and the were excellent, just outgrew them but as an all round boot i was really happy with them and since them I have gone through Nikes and predators. However i never really remembered World Cups costing 80quid which seems the going rate at the moment and so was looking for something a bit cheaper. Don't want the copa's because I don't like moulded really (also my Nikes were)... but been looking at Puma Kings because I can get them for 55quid and they are pretty similar to the World Cups (both been around for ages and are just good, leather boots)..

The only other boots I'm tempted by are the new Nike ronaldinho ones, the expensive versions are 100 and cheap ones about 55... tried them on and they felt nice but looked a little spoony... with a rounded toe.

Anyone played in both Puma Kings and World Cups.. what would you suggest? They both feel good when trying them on but you never really know with boots until you start trying to nutmeg 45yo's on some bog down at Great Wakering!

true.. but are they worth the extra 25quid?? lots of players wear puma kings too and many players wearing world cups seem to have changed into the new adidas boots like the tiempos

Played in both, most recently the World Cups. Absolutely love those boots, so comfortable and look great. I would suggest to get these, and if you go to Sports World at the airport they are only £55 i think. They were when i got them a few months back.

At Sports World i asked for a size 10 or 11 and they had both aswell as 10.5 so should have a good choice and be able to get the right boots.

Hope that helps!

Have played in both and would definitely go for the Puma King. I recently went back to World Cups but abandoned them after two games. My ankles have been through the mill over the years and they offer little or no support in that area. I went for a pair of Nike Tiempos in the end - more support and strength. The last thing I would personally buy is a pair of Mercurials - they look and feel like plastic carpet slippers; perfect if you fancy a broken toe.

I have to agree...i have both world cups and Copa mondial...incidently i have converted couple of my under 16 team to these as well away from the fancy plastic boots...and they much prefer the World cups.....so that says something in itself...
