Pubey's "Tunes from the leftfield" - 2

In eager anticipation of their sixth studio album, due out in the summer (ironic). I bring you Scotlands finest... Mogwai, with one of their early "hits", Summer. As someone comments on the youtube video, from about the 3minute mark is pure sonic bliss. crushingly loud and stunningly beautiful... instrumental music doesn't get much better than The 'Gwai

They're playing all of Young Team track for track at a summer festival i read yesterday. Maybe they'll do the same thing at a London venue, like those ATP dates?

yeah i know, it's the 10anniversary and they are releasing a remastered version. i love Young Team and it would be amazing if they did it in london (however i really want to catch them to hear their new stuff. i think they are just at the point where they have enough material to craft some amazing sets and have the depth to play for nearly 2hours)

Not bad supports though? Bats for lashes is cute (if very very dull) whereas Liars are actually 372 times better than Radiohead.

Not heard about Liars (is this the start of the slippery slope? :stunned: )
What are they like & bringing the slight offshoot of Radiohead comments back onto topic, are they in any way like Mogwai.

I like a couple of BforL tracks, although thought the girls in that band were lesbians?

Liars are pretty experimental and all their albums are pretty different so hard to explain. some bits i love and some i don't... worth checking out though, especially Drums not Dead and Liars

They were originally quite Franz ferdinand like just before that band broke (very post punk) then went very, very odd and started investigating drums, weird instruments and rhythms. They're really not for everyone, but if you suddenly get into them like I did on their 3rd record, then you're along for the ride and find almost every other band slightly pointless.

BFL are nice enough, I just found them a bit boring and twee. I'd love to see what a Liars support set goes down like! The last album was a lot more accessible though so maybe it'll work?

Type them into hypemachine and check some of their stuff out:
