Yes i know theres still 10 games to go, and nothing is certain until its mathematically proven... but how many points do you think we need for a). A Play-Off birth and b). Automatic promotion?...

Id say if we could win 4 out of the last 10 that in theory should be enough for a place in the Play-Offs, around 73 points.

And a big IF, we can get say 6 wins in the last 10, i honestly feel that would secure a spot in the top three, around 80 points.

Whats everyone else's opinion?..

Mods if you feel this could be a curse post, by all means lock it!!..

As the league is very tight this year between 3rd and 12th it will be a higher points tally to make it into the play-offs. However because the top-teams a.k.a Swansea keep losing to the lower teams it will most likely be a lower tally to make it into the auto's than other years. I would say 78-82 points will take the 3rd spot and 74-82 will occupy the play-offs.

Basically, if we get more points than 21 other teams in this league then we'll get promoted.

Theres no point worrying about points targets. There are so many teams scrapping for points and taking points off of eachother. This weekend is a perfect example. A point at a team near the bottom at this stage in the season wouldn't usually be anything to write home about, but we ended saturday in a stronger position than we went into it. We could have won that match, taken three points and ended up in a worse position if certain results had turned out differently.

81 points

That means we need 20 points from our last 10 games, an average of 2 points per game. In our last 10 games, we have accrued 17 points, which puts us fifth in the form table. Macclesfield and Scunny are the only teams I am worried about to be honest. The Macclesfield have a game in hand and it will be interesting to see what they get out of that.

I think we can secure the automatics with games to spare to be honest... let's face it, we were poor on Saturday, but battled to secure a draw. It's definitely in our hands now!!!

I thought around 81pts a couple of weeks back but after recent results and the fact that there are still 2 places to fight for around 78pts SHOULD be enough this season IMHO.

last season with 10 games to go torquay were in 4th place with 63 points, 3 points behind 3rd placed huddersfield, they finished in 3rd with 81 points. thats 18 points out of 30. if torquay can get automatic promotion with 18 points from their last ten and overtake a team 3 points ahead of them, then who says we cant get 18 points and get 3rd place with 79 points as a total. also at this time last season torquay were 6 points behind 2nd place hull city and finished 7 points behind them. at the moment we are just 2 points behind second place scunthorpe.

remember its in our hands if macclesfield dont win their game in hand. we are 3rd and its other teams that have to play catch up.

also 7th place yeovil had 59 and 8th lincoln had 58 points. lincoln finished 7th with 74 points. at the moment 8th place darlington have 54 points of which is 4 points less than lincoln laast season.

what im getting at is that points this year are well down from last year. torquay were in the playoffs by 5 points this year we are by 7 points, so it seems we are almost there for a playoff spot.

we are in a suprisingly very strong position and promotion looks good as long as we can continue to get results
