We can but hope ... if the game was at Chelmsford then there's always the prospect of a careless groundsman leaving the sprinklers on for a few days ;) ... but the pikeys could be as low as 4th in the table come Saturday and so they'll be going all out to get some sort of match on
if the match is on I do fancy Essex to win, purely on our one day form this season.
My biggest problem is i use the SUFC logic of "what can go wrong will go wrong" to Essex

worse case scenario and we end up in the play offs which will be at chelmsford. unfortunately not under lights but you'd still fancy us a against a div1 team that have obviously struggled.
Why is the Yorkshire game advertised as SS1? For me there's golf on this channel, and my SS2 isn't working.
Virgin Media are hopeless.
Well, got SS2 working and it's on there. If this is rained off, what happens?
Match off ... Essex are up .. to all intents and purposes
If we lose on Saturday, and Yorkshire win at Northants all 3 sides will have 12 points with 5 wins, so it'd go to run rate ... ours is so superior to Yorkshires that we'd have to lose by something like 150 runs while they win by the same margin to prevent us going up

yeah done a bit of maths
Based on this scenario its going to take a massive turn around. Currently we are 1.72 and Yorks 0.28
if Kent got 200 and we only got 100 our NRR would go down to 0.99
if yorks got 200 and opponents only 100 then there NRR would go up to 0.63
So promotion looks pretty safe to me.
Hmm ... i've seen us thrashed plenty of times over there so the first scenario is possible :'(
Yorkshire are playing Northants (61 all out anyone ??) :'(
I think i'll pray for rain to take the title thank you very much
yes i've seen us lose by over 150 runs twice in kent. once at maidstone and that year we went for my birthday. there's also that friday me and stickboy went to tunbridge wells and saw essex bowled out twice in a day to lose a champs game by an inns and a lot.
lets pray for rain.
Right, lets put all this negativity to one side (or leave it in Shrimpers Chit-Chat at least )
It isn't going to rain on Saturday, so we need to go there and win.
So can we ?? As pointed out by myself and others we have a wretched record over The Thames so need to put that right or they will gain revenge for the FPT Final
IIRC we've played each other 6 times this season, with 3 wins apiece, so Saturday is the decider in more ways than one
COME ON ESSEX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5 times and we shade it 3-2 at the moment. Saturday will be the 6th.
I'm pretty confident i think we'll be champions.
