Good read and well spotted. I have to say it suggests that most peoples enemy number 1 (Ron M) is doing something worthy of applause and more than intimates his interest in the long term future of Southend United.

Two points I picked up on:

Acting silently in the background, however, was Ricky Duncan, brought back to the club from Conference-bound Cambridge. While Freddy Eastwood and Steve Tilson stole the headlines, Duncan sought to rejuvenate a youth policy that had failed to produce a single player worthy of note for nigh on thirty years.

Really? What about Spencer Prior, Andy Edwards and Justin Edinburgh?

In truth, the success of Duncan’s youth charges has been a welcome distraction from a thoroughly disheartening period of discontent for Blues fans. The never-ending relocation saga shows no signs of abating and, at least for the time being, Sainsbury’s are subsiding the club’s losses.

Blimey, we are in trouble!

If we can get more of these kids into the first team the same way kane has then it will not only serve as another reason to come to blues , but will add numerous naughts on the price tags of these players when unsurprisingly these clubs come calling.

Great work from the club and i as much as it pains me to say , but well done Ron martin for continuing the youth team

Not to mention the fact that we don't have to pay through the nose to buy players in the future.
