Never used it but you might want to look at open office which is a free Microsoft Office style suite of tools.

It contains a presentation tool called Impress and you can save presentations in MS powerpoint format or open MS powerpoint presentations.

everyone swears by open office, which is a freeware "office" which does all the stuff an MS Office suite would do... even lets you save in the same file extensions i think

I actually found Open office quite disappointing as a comparison but it's very good for free software.

Open office is the way forward freeware wise, but its hard to adjust to from MS.
