The Business
Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit of a joke.

As far as I can tell and I am prepared to be proved wrong by the General here - They are striking as they dont like there money and also because Royal Mail want to modernise the business.

Well I am sorry but...............

1) If you dont like your money go and get a better paid job.
2) Surely every business modernises? Is that not the way we all move forward.

As a small business man (And I dont mean in height) I think its a joke.

I personally will make sure I am rude to all non-working postmen I see today and I urge my fellow zoners to do the same.

WHERE ARE YOU KEV you ****ing postman prick I am going to slap you when you come in the spread tomorrow you git!!! ;)

I think it's just as well, because the tube drivers would have been on strike at the same time, however, their strike ballot papers are stuck in the post.

People moan when they do get the post and then moan when they dont get their post ... !!

:thump:

People inside the company have seen this 4 day strike as way OTT. Personally im totally against it. Today was my rest day so im getting paid anyway and its just tomorrow im missing out on as im off on leave next week!

You will probably see a few postman/woman dotted around today as many cant afford to lose the money and many are getting frustrated with both the company and the Union!

Kev

to be honest thanks to on line banking and email i don't get a lot of post anyway other than junk mail. so i probably won't even notice when the posties return to work.

I must admit when I opened this post I expected to see a discussion between Cliff from Cheers, and Pat with his cat Jess, on the merits of Leon Clarke. So I was slightly disappointed.

If it was Fire Fighters going on strike would everyone have the same attitude??

If Fire Fighters went on striker as there safety was being compromised then I would support it 100%. Just because you dont like you pay rise is a joke in any occupation in my book.

i don't agree with striking but think that the postmen/women should be offered a wage increase in line with inflation (i can't see if this 2.5% each year is on top). as for the threat of job cuts... welcome to the real world!

They walk around for a few hours in the sun, wearing shorts and getting a tan...Bloody whingers!!

What is they're salary, out of interest?

Any they walk all over your lawn every day..Have they no manners or respect for peoples property!!!

Not fussed, all I get through the post is bills and depressing bank statements so they can keep hold of them for as long as the like!

Its not just about a pay rise.

The new pension scheme the RM have come up is the main thing ... !

Kev

99% of employers got rid of final salary pension scheme yonks ago. I cant think of many employers that now offer them. Why should the royal mail be any different?

Done quite a few postmans mortgages and the basic is something along the lines of £16-£17k. They do get paid extras for overtime and being rude to customers, loosing parcels etc etc.

I think they top up there salary by nicking from Birthday and Xmas cards and most have 2nd jobs in my experience too.
