Portsmouth

Have finally been placed into Administration today after a long (and boring) few months. As much as i dont like to see football clubs go down like this but do Portsmouth deserve it? When i club has so many owners in a short period of time and with promises being thrown around which the club just cant keep too, surely they are asking for trouble? Am listening to a lot of emails on SSN from Portsmouth fans who blame the Premier League itself stating that the league should have been more involved in the clubs running. Well im sorry but IMO thats not how it works, for example, are Palace being helped by the Football League, ARE WE being helped? Why should Pompey be helped? A question being asked is how can a club who only a few years ago won the FA Cup and now this.

As a football fan i feel for the fans of Portsmouth but IMO they have no one to blame apart from themselves.

A quite illuminating Q & A here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/mattslater/2010/02/portsmouth_fc_in_crisis_qa.html

This, in particular, could apply to so many clubs

"
shocking disregard for basic housekeeping: do not spend more money than you actually have. Portsmouth have been ignoring this one for at least four years.

The slightly longer answer is appalling mismanagement, combined with an arrogant belief that the usual rules do not apply, naked greed and a failure on the part of the authorities to regulate the industry properly."
