Pompey facing expulsion from the league at the end of this season should the never ending takeover from their supporters trust not go through...

Not wishing to kick a man while he's down but would this mean an extra league 2 side getting promotion should this happen? I can't see us finishing top 3, perhaps forth at a push!

Would hope so (not that I wish bad on Pompey for one minute), saying that though, maybe relegating one less side from League One is also an option with a third Blue Sq side coming up.

Some decent sized clubs in the Blue Square....Grimsby, Wrexham, Luton, Lincoln.

We all know by know that the FA just make things up as they see fit

It wouldn't be decided until the end of the season, but it would probably be a case of an extra team going up.

this was looked at before I can't recall why but am fairly sure that someone found something from the FA rules . For sure the answer was one less team is demoted

It'll definitely be one less team relegated in L1 and lower down the pyramid, it's the only way or it'll bugger up all the play-offs. The FA have got it right.

Fingers crossed it doesn't happen, we were (are!) in very dire straits and it's not nice to support a club in financial turmoil - hope the takeover goes ahead.

So if Portsmouth finish in bottom 4 of L1, then 4 teams go up from L2 as normal but only 3 come down, so the gap is in L2. Does that mean only the bottom team is relegated and 2 come up from the Conference?

And if Portsmouth beat the drop but fold anyway, then presumably L2 stuff is unchanged but only 3 teams from L1 drop.

Is that right?

Yes spot on

If they last to the end of the season then what would happen is, that 3 teams would be relegated to league 2 from 1, 4 would come up from 2, 1 would relegated from 2 to the conference, with two coming up from the conference.

This was stipulated last year when the same discussions where happening about if Pompey would start this season.

3rd place is very much open for someone to grab at the moment, big week coming up for us with games against Cheltenham and Northampton.

Someone just needs to pull the plug on Portsmouth and be done with it. Getting sick of hearing about all their problems now, taken the **** for far too long.

As I understand it yes.

Harsh but fair. I do genuinely feel for Pompey's fans but at the same time I have no sympathy for the club whatsoever. It spent well beyond its means, not once but twice, and showed unbelievable naivety (at best) and arrogance (at worst).

I feel sorry for Pompey , but at the same time .I wonder ,WOULD THE F.I.F.A or WHOEVER BEEN AS TOLERANT IF IT WAS SOUTHEND IN THIS TROUBLE.ME THINKS NOT:sad:

Whoa, boy. Be careful what you wish for, this could very easily be us and it's someone else's passion.....
