Poor league!

Cant believe we are a couple of points of the top two with the quality of football we are playing at the moment. We seem to be sitting back very deep and dont seem to be playing flowing football like we have in past.I do realise we havent played Leeds,Scunny and the foxes yet but we always seem to raise our games against the better teams.I am not complaining as we are on a brill run at the moment, however if we step up a couple of gears I do feel an automatic place could be ours.

Keep the faith bring on Scnny.

depends on your expectations of what league one football should be like, its the third division what excactly do you expect? Tilly always tries to get the boys playing the good stuff and at the mo we have a weakened team. I find to win at this level you only need a couple/three moments of real attacking quality to win matches, look at our first today quality cross from betsy-good header from revell, of late dougie has been giving us those quality moments up top, as long as you dont concede shed loads of goals and you can produce a few moments every game your sorted

We're playing a lot of the weaker teams at the moment. Its good that we are picking up maximum points, but the real test will be when we play some of the top 10 sides. We were thrashed by Walsall and took a point off Millwall and Stockport, don't think we've played any other top 10 sides.

16 points out of 18 would be a triumph even if it had been against the bottom six. We're far from the finished article, but to be in the playoff places after the upheaval of the summer is one hell of an achievement IMO, and we should continue to improve.

here here to that it wasnt soo long ago it was all doom and gloom on here, we had just been thumped at warsaw and we were saying it was going to be a long hard season, hopefully Fed will stay for another month, harding will sign in jan, sawyer will sign for the season, maybe even harry will do a petts and tear up JFC's contract, and tilly will find a permanent solution to the left of midfield in jan and we will make the top 6 at worst

Our recent run has been very impressive indeed , yes we have a team of loanees which when/if they go back to their respective teams will leave a big void in our side .

Obviously we are not going to be able to sign all of them , but the fact that we are winning and the training ground must be one that is buzzing at the moment and the same with the dressiing room , it does make you wonder if the lads on loan would want to go back to their teams when things are so good here .

If we were langiushing lower half of the table then it would make it very easy for them to walk away and forget about us .
Because of the above i'm pretty confident that Harding/HRK may sign perm and that we can extend Sawyer and Christophe's time here to the end of the season.

Still think the big test for us is coming up with Scunny , Leeds and Col U to play and it will tell us a bit more about if we are good enough to sustain a push at getting promotion this season .

Exactly right, let's see where we are after the Colchester game. Harding will be back for the Leeds one, Dougie should be ok by then, and I'm hoping Barney will be too. If Sankofa can play as well as he did yesterday then there's a case for dropping Francis and hopefully any loan deals due to end will have been extended as well.

It will have to be a cold night in hell before T & B were to consider dropping Francis, IMO.

Peterborough would be the only other top 10 club we have faced at the time of writing. We probably got them at the best time, before they had adjusted to life one league higher and they seem to be finding it OK at the moment.

Peterborough didn't look a top 10 team when we played them; on the evidence we saw they'll finish bottom half despite their current position.

Brighton and Carlisle are another couple of probable top 10 teams we've lost to.

Peterborough didn't look a top team but currently are, Brighton and Carlisle have now fallen away to places in the bottom 10. One game judgements are very difficult. I personally wouldn't have said our performance against Swindon was one of our best, but I'm very pleased to get three points from it. The performance against, say, Brighton was far better, but we got nothing.

Peterborough will not be a lower half table and are taking points from those around them, the latest was Leeds, and that helped us, and demonstrated the adjustment they are making. I'd be very happy to finish above Peterborough, as I think they'll make the play offs, but that's just my hunch.

Some people are never happy are they. We have 16 points out of 18 and still people moan. We can only beat who we play. What more can they do? Some people would still be moaning if we won every game 6-0.

Posh will definatly be there or there abouts this season , i thought they looked solid against us , i didn't remember us ever threatening them defensively and the goal we scored was a scrappy and somewhat fortunate goal .

Also thought that Boyd looked a quality player , and along with Mackiel smith and maclean , they will score lots of goals.
Also bear in mind that if by january they are not up there , they are one of the few teams at this level that can dip into their pockets and strengthen big time.

Their fightback yesterday was one of a side brimming with confidence and thats how you react to going 3-1 down away from home instead of rolling over and dying like we have done in so many games in the past 3 years.

You can only beat whoever the fixtures computer puts in front of you, and we've done a good job over the past three or four weeks. Hopefully building confidence for the next few games, which promise to be, on paper, a bit of a harder task.

I'm not too bothered about the overall strength of the league, as it's not something, as a club, we can influence.

Our squad is a different matter, and on the whole, I'd say we have maintained the strength in the squad, taking into account the changes in personnel. Once the loans come up for renewal/completion, that will have more of an influence on our season, along with any activity in transfer window.

That will be the same Simon Francis that did not even make the squad for the first half of least season then?

Francis did not feature at the start of last season because of a nasty ankle (if I recall correctly) injury.

Even with his flaws I'd pick him as RB above anyone else at we have at the club, and at most other clubs too.

Enitirely agree Suffolk & when one of our younger players goes through a difficult patch what we do as supporters, is support and be supportive ? as opposed to calling for him to be axed ?

five wins and a draw isn't necessarily promo or play-off material but should be a good pointer to ensuring we steer clear of the relegation dogfight. The gap between mid table and a play off spot is never massive and these 16 points picked up now could be a big factor. I wouldn't mind betting the promo candidates don't manage 5 wins and a draw in their six games against the same opps.

I don't believe we are strong enough to push for a play-off spot unless these loans extend to the end of the season or sign for us, together with an experienced CD in January to play alongside Clarke. The recent run means that another 9 wins should ensure survival and that has to be the first target. Three massive games coming up. Anything more than 4 points and I'll start to have higher aspirations.
