How on earth did they rack up these sorts of losses on income of well over 50M PA ?

5 players at 80K PW
5 @ 60K
5 @ 40 K
5 @ 20 K
10@ 10K
and 5 at 2K

Squad of 35 - Wage bill 57M , i suppose would do it......(with a few big transfer fees agents fees etc)

Supposedly a huge proportion of this is owed to former owners, Gaydamak and Chanrai... Chanrai only owns the club through default remember after the original owner defaulted on the loan repayments.

Apparently they still owe Chelsea for Glenn Johnson & Spurs for Jermaine Defoe. At least Spurs may be able to contra some of the fee when they bought Defoe back.

IIRC they owed Spurs for a number of players in January as well as Chelsea and a few clubs overseas for players like Dindane and Muntari. They wanted to escape the transfer embargo to at least give them some fighting chance of avoiding relegation and negotiated with these clubs as well as the EPL.

Chelsea were the only club to turn down their advances.

The strangest fee, though, is owing Tottenham £1m as a "sell-on" for Asmir Begovic... Who never played for Spurs.
