I am not one to jump on the doom bandwagon or stir up trouble/controversy and am 100% behind RM and SUFC but was speaking to a guy at work today who went to school with Barney and still sees him. He piped up that Barney told him he hadn't been paid for 2 weeks. Now, whether Barney gets paid monthly and is just being a bit thick or there is some issue I don't know. Just thought I would post what I had been told and see if anyone else has heard anything from a reliable source.

This guy isn't a Blues fan by the way, just told it how Barney told him.
 
Would've thought that they get paid monthly, that's normally how you get paid in a job if i'm right?
 
Well seeing as it's now the 12th of the month and monthly salary is normally paid on the 1st I would make him about right. Clever lad that barney huh, not much get's past him - except retreating defenders...........

I know very few people that get monthly that have the 1st as their pay day actually, it tends to be more from the 20th on. Still right though, he won't have been paid for a few weeks - anymore than a lot of us I reckon!

I heard the same rumour from a different player. I just love the sarcastic comments on here. Would you still be making those comments if the players walked away, as I am sure non-payment of wages invalidates their contracts.
 
They may well get paid weekly or monthly, just don't know though it maybe weekly due to bonuses, i.e win, goal etc

There does seem to be an inconsistent policy on here from mods on rumours like these.
Seen similar posts/threads deleted pdq in past. Any reason why this one is being treated differently?
The flippant reaction to this rumour is probably due to the proven inaccuracy of so many rumours in the past. A very small proportion of rumours on here do eventually prove to be true but the strike rate is pretty low. Steve Tilson would be managing half the clubs in England right now if all the rumours about his impending departures had proved correct.
Of course if the starter of this thread had said he had heard this latest one from a mate who plays golf with Tilly then it would have been treated with far greater respect.
 
Not surprised at all. some will know the same happened with another player a couple of seasons ago, whilst others in the squad were paid.

The club would (or should not by tax regs) be liable to the player for testimonial funds

Testimonials are set up outside of the club employer / employee relationship otherwise they are subject to income tax in the normal way.
If , however, testimonial monies have been withheld, it would be the income the club has collected on behalf of the Testimonial Commitee ie money taken at the turnstiles which would be paid to the TC less expenditure.

Considering the only testimonial in recent times was Spinners, which was only a couple of months ago, I would imagine the TC would only be just thinking about paying over the money and they may well not be in full receipt of all due funds

Players are paid weekly, unless they're not paid at all. Why do you think these Premiership megadeals are always referenced as £35 trillion a week?
